I've heard it somewhere but can't remember if its a true fact or a made-up one. If it is true, why, when its only been re-cooked?

I followed a diet once by Weight Watchers and they said that it is true

I don't think it has more calories than untoasted bread but the process by which you toast the bread (a bit like burning or cooking) may alter the chemical composition of the bread and that may alter the carbohydrates in the bread making it perhaps more 'sugary', e.g. simpler sugars are more available than in untoasted bread, which remains more complex in terms of sugars. As you know, simple sugars can increase your insulin production, which in turn may lead to elevated insulin levels in the blood, which in turn may get your body to store sugars as fat. But for this to happen you would need to eat a shed loads of toasts so, I don't think it is, per se, more fattening than non-toast, so just calm down and keep eating your toasts.

I have never heard that it is what you put on the toast that adds the calories. Hey if the heat on the bread has made more calories does that mean if I get hot it piles on the weight oh boy looking for an excuse and found one thank you!

Maybe.....just maybe. Possibly the bread itself has more calories per weight, because toasting dried it a bit, so toast is lighter than bread, but the calories are the same. With me?

If you mean the same piece of bread.........then no.

No, it will actually have marginally LESS as the heating process (browning - ie. lightly BURNING) destroys some of the 'product' thereby using up some of the stored chemical energy (calories).
