What is a reasonable time to wait for a guy to make a long term commitment?

Depends on previous relationships. someone couldve really hurt him in the past and its hard to open up... guys are like females when it comes to the trust. or for the most part most guys i know.

My boyfriend and I have been together for 14 mos and he still can't say he loves me,only that he has strong feelings for me. We are together several times a week(sleepovers),including weekends,and have a wonderful time with one another. I have told him I loved him a few times and when I do he smiles! He had his heart completely crushed by a woman he thought loved him as much as he loved her not long before we started dating. Therefore he is extremely hesitant to give over his heart so completely again. I understand this and will wait for as long as it takes. It's different for everyone. He's so afraid of the possibility of being badly hurt again that he can't just let go and let his heart love fully. He loves me. I know this. He just can't give 100% yet. In the meantime we will continue on the way we have been. I have faith it will all turn out wonderfully in the end!

Two Cases:
One: They do not want to take the responsility. Means they will not.
Second: They really want to do that but due are unable to take the responsibility at that very time.
See men take some decision only if they find thereselves capable of doing that on their own

some guy need to be shown that the comment will make him stronger and if he see that having a good lady next to him will make him a powerful man. and if he still don't see it then give up on him or what until he grow up more..
all these word are from my wife .. so you no it true..
