to take any medications because your friends do , doesnt seem like a good idea at all
if you do wish to take anything to calm your nerves .. take something like * kalms *
this is a herbal tablet that just chills you a little .. but it is best taken over a period of time to allow it to take effect
so if you take it over the week before an exam it may help steady your nerves xx
but study study study ... then you can say .. i done it through my own efforts

Whatever you do, do it for yourself, not to get the edge over someone else. Apart from that, have you not heard that Ritalin is bad for your brain. I know the psych's are pushing it but that does not mean that it's safe. Thousands of children, especially in the US are being destroyed by this and no-one gives a damn. Money ad convenience are behind it. Perhaps if your government banned most of the rubbish that's on TV the kids wouldn't be so hyped up that they can't calm down and get on with "normal" life. Though I can't help but wonder what IS normal any more. Yoga meditation is more likely to help you and it doesn't have bad side-effects!

Ritalin is not a solution to studying better. Thats like an athlete taking steroids to perform better. You need to focus on your study skills rather than trying to take the "easy" way out with drugs.

I don't believe in medication if not necessary. But it would be better to get if from a doctor's prescription than off of the street. Maybe you could try different study habits, check your diet, exercise, and rest. Maybe go to a quiet place to study. I try these things first before any medicine.

Be careful. If you really don't need it, don't take it. I'm not against medications but have worked in the medical field for some time now. You may talk to your doctor and see what he thinks, as he would have an expert opinion. Blessings.

no. ritalin is dangerous when taken if not needed. use meditation to help you focus or if you find your self frustrated or lacking attention go for a short walk and relax....dont take drugs to help you focus because sooner or later your gonna get addicted and then get into trouble. it could also hurt you academically because if you get caught using something you technically do not medically need they could expell you for drug abuse. you could also wind up taking it then end up crashing mentally later on...these pills have side affects and are not prescribed just for study aids.

Any dr who would write u a prescription for that reason should be reported to the state board. Repost this question under health. There's lots of people on there who would be more than happy to answer.

suggest you rely on your own wisdom and knowledge. in my experience the moment one starts using outside help such as this over a period of time there are negative side effects which may turn up later. have never been in favor of these artificial aids as they may lead to serious complications. however, you have free will to do whatever you think best and this is my personal opinion only.

Don't take any drugs unless a doctor prescribes them and you feel they are absolutely necessary. Learn to focus in other ways - it will become a habit and you will feel good about your own abilities. ;-)

if you don't have any actual neurological problems (ie attention) that ritalin can correct, it won't make much difference whether you take it or not. its sort of like taking tylenol without a headache. there's not really much point to it.
