I noticed that someone has already suggested the Honda Odyssey. I do not know if it has AWD, but they are very nice, solidly built vehicles that consistently win awards for design, quality and reliability.
Likewise, Honda also has the 8 passenger mid-size SUV, the Pilot. It has 4 wheel drive and an integrated third row seat. Very well designed and built, plus it gets good gas mileage for a vehicle its size.

do you really want to go 4 wheeling/Off roading? Get a Chevy Tahoe.
If you just want something to carry your family around in that has AWD, then get a honda odyssey. I like the Chrysler Town & country limited. It is hard to recommend just based on an AWD preference. You have to tell us what else you want the car for.
