Do you know the story??
Amazing Grace was written by John Newton, Slave Trader. He had turned away from God during a time when he was severely abused.
One day, during a storm at sea, God touched him in a very real way and it was the "Hour he first believed"
He turned his life around, became an abolitionist and wrote this beautiful song
All Christians can identify with that song in some way.

You know, the times that I feel like singing that song the most are when I have recently been delivered from some kind of bondage. It seems to me that our African American citizens are step by step getting free from oppression and "what a long hard trip it's been!" Christian hymns have always been a sustaining force in the black community and this goes way back to slavery days when it was a secret form of communication about getting free. they know by handed down an first hand experience that "the Lord inhabits the praises of his people!" Sing on, sing on! Love, Cindy

It's very possible to learn to sing well. You just need to know the right methods. Learn here https://tr.im/eYNH4
Singing teachers will cost money and can be expensive so they're not for everyone. Singing can be learned so it's not an "either you have it or you don't" kind of thing.
Whether you sound like crap or you're decent, I recommend this singing course. It's one of the best methods to learn to sing well in a short amount of time. It's all about using efficient techniques that work.

At my church, we sing Amazing Grace all the time. And we're white. (no offense or anything) It's definitely our favorite song. It's just an all around great song! Just saying, don't worry, you're not the only ones who simply adore it.

Well one, its a beautiful song, and two it has a lot of soul. It also has a lot of racial meaning for American blacks, because it was something their ancestors(slaves) sang to make the work go by faster and easier.
