I have dail-up and bellsouth is my phone line company. They
said that DSL is not near me so I cant get. Please is there any download that I can get to make me faster. I cant stand this slow thing any more. Please help..... I am trying to down load the childrens move dora for my kids and it has taken a day now and its still not done. Thanks

There are many options you can choose from besides just DSL, which, as you have said, is not always available in all places. Cable internet is available (e.g. comcast, time warner, etc.) or you could see if bellsouth has a "speedy" version of their dial-up (eg. Juno or NetZero SpeedBand)

If you have a dialup type connection you’ll face two main problems.
1. Slow connection
Typically takes more time.
2. Dropping connection
So some times once 80% completed, you have to restart it.
I can suggest two solutions to overcome this problem. To accelerate your download speeds do the followings.
- Make sure there aren’t any other program running background while you are surfing.
- Install a download accelerates software. For this I can recommend “Download Accelerator plus” which you can get from the link http://www.speedbit.com/
- For dropping connections, I can recommend the download manager software called “GetRight”. This is capable of resume download even if it stops suddenly. You can get this software from the link http://www.getright.com
Don’t expect that these will give you super performance like ADSL. But they’ll help a bit. Hope this helps

you are trying to push a huge, wet, noodle, through a drinking straw!!!
It simply is not going to work, and you need to get Broadband cable access. Life is tough, and you either move, or pay for the only access you can get that will do the job...
Some of us are in local clubs, and our friends burn the CDs for us... I am one who does that service for my friends... I download huge CDroms of Linux and Free, Open Source Software, kids games, Industry quality programs, in my computers that run http://pclinuxos.com a whole lot faster even, my friends report, on their phone line dialup.
But, there is just NO way to get 700 Megabytes of data to flow on a 7 Kilobyte per second line, in less than a week. Do the math!!!
