W/O getting technical and making it very easy for you, plasma has a better picture for TV watching and movie where LCD's are better if you plan on using it as a PC monitor and/or for watching animation. Just look at the two side by side if you ever have the opportunity, you will see for yourself.

LCD'S are less expensive and lighter. They are great. I have a LCD for my computer and can't wait until I can get one for the living room and my bedroom. It does take special cleaning however and you shouldn't really touch the screen with bare hands....Plasma's are great, but I don't know if they still need to have their plasma re-charged any more or not...I heard that can be very expensive. You have to remember that both are more rectangle vs the square of traditional tv's so they may not fit into your entertainment center. You also have to buy the wall mounts and make sure that you mount them correctly to prevent accidents. I might wait to see what the Christmas season does to the price of both types of tv's if you are looking to buy....

With Plasmas you run the risk of burn in on the screen as well as blowing out a pixel, I am a big fan of the new 1080p projection televisions, like the Samsung DLP and Sony SXRD
