Hi. Wow, that must be a delicate situation. My best thought begins with the fact that you can't just ignore it. That would not be a real friendship. So you are either going to have to move on or help this person by asking about it. Choose a time and place that is private. Do not be abrupt or confrontational. You will either get a negative reaction (and run the risk of ending the friendship on the spot) or you will get into an honest conversation. This is the gamble you will take. No way to pretend otherwise. If your friend does open up, point him or her to therapy. This is a condition that can be helped. But not alone.

Ask her if she has an eating disorder. When a man notices his woman stealing, this is usually what it means. It's an issue having to do with shame (the main element of bulimia). IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO BRING THIS OUT IN TO THE OPEN AND CONFRONT IT.

The bad news is that this is common as dirt. The good news is that MOST women with eating disorders can be successfully treated. But, only if you stay away from the bottom feeding, scum sucking losers that call themselves "psychotherapists". This is a euphemism for unqualified a-hole who is exploiting people. What you want is a "Licensed Clinical Psychologist" who treats only people with eating disorders. This is someone who has a doctorate (either a PhD in Clinical Psychology or a Doctor of Psychology) and is licensed by the state to treat mental illness (90% of mental illness is depression, anxiety disorders and eating disorders). This is the type of person who can help. Unfortunately, for every one of these, there are hundreds of losers with no freaking idea about how to treat anything, hanging out a shingle. It's easy to tell them apart. The term, Licensed Clinical Psychologist is a legally defined and protected term. Look for it in conjunction with an eating disorders treatment practice and you will have found what you are looking for.

The kleptomania is nothing....just a symptom of something else that is hidden from your view (part of the disorder). But, this is a serious issue. Left untreated, the eating disorder will make it impossible to have a healthy relationship with her. However, getting it treated will solve these problems and alleviate alot of suffering on her part. Pay attention to what I said about the phony practitioners. Because one of the ways that eating disordered people resist legitimate treatment is by hooking up with one of these (which make her disorder much worse) and then digging in their heels about not seeing a real doctor, because they are already in "treatment". Don't allow that to happen.

I would confront straight on. If it is making you sick, then you need to talk about it.

Everytime you are at his house, steal something from him. He'll get the hint.
