Because sometimes we have a chocolate bar to eat and sometimes we don't and we have to wait for the evening when we can finally sneak out, run to the nearest snack shop and buy it. Then we can be happy again. You know white stripes - black stripes. It's all zoological. I mean zebras and stuff. Haha

Well it is quite natural for one to go thru both happiness and depression, but if it very often then it may be "Mood Swings Disorder"...

A mood disorder is a condition whereby the prevailing emotional mood is distorted or inappropriate to the circumstances.

The two major types of mood disorders are depression (or unipolar depression) and bipolar disorder.

* Depression (or unipolar depression), including subtypes:
o Major Depression
o Major Depression (Recurrent)
o Major Depression with psychotic symptoms (psychotic depression)
o Dysthymia
o Postpartum depression

* Bipolar disorder, a mood disorder described by alternating periods of mania and depression (and in some cases rapid cycling, mixed states, and psychotic symptoms). Subtypes include:
o Bipolar I
o Bipolar II
o Cyclothymia

Schizoaffective disorder is a vaguely-defined term (probably at the psychotic end of the bipolar spectrum) that describes patients that show symptoms of both schizophrenia and one of the mood disorders.

Basic and clinical psychiatric research is increasingly showing that unipolar and bipolar mood disorders are continuous entities within the complete mood spectrum. This spectrum runs continuously from unipolar depression to schizo-bipolar disorder with anxiety disorders running across the gamut. However, many professionals contest this claim. Some maintain that bipolar disorder, for example, may actually be biochemically closer to schizophrenia than (unipolar) depression.

There are also forms of mood disorder that are specific to women, related to physiological events such as pregnancy, giving birth or the menopause - these include Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder and Postpartum Psychosis.

The professionaly-accepted definitions of all of the mood disorders can be found in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) and the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems

You are still depressed. Being depressed means you have more times of the day where you feel down than up and get affected by things more (listen to the Dr....I think they know a bit more than your b/f!.....(. Its kind of like when my mother died. I used to think that you would be sad 100% of the time, but its not like that...you do smile and you can laugh! Obviously because I smile or laugh doesn't mean I'm happy and again with other people around you have things to distract you, its when you are alone is when things get on top of you.

It always happens with your financial freedom. Money can make a person wiser or duffer. But in real life there shall be no relation of happiness or depression with materialism. Wiser person never feel depressed even in difficult situations. The person must find out the happiness in the otherwise situations also. Wish you happy moments all the life.

Its just a feeling of mind
For eg: What ever we like if it happens we are happy
If it happens against to it we feel disappointed as we already made up our mind that it will happen in the way we are thinking if it does not happen we feel sad
Once think about great Saints in the history they are the only people are not effected to this external circumstances and just take everything which are happening and which are happened are for there benefit itself.

because we think that life it's pink, and it's not, life it's hard, too har sometimes, but i'ts what we got, we don't have to complain about what makes you sad and all, you need to see the others things, the good ones, do what you like, fight for your dreams, but don't let that the things go wrong ruin good things. if maybe we can learn about life in a different way we could live better and don't feel so depressed about.
but the most importante thing look for a dream ,a one that makes you fight, and live, that's what saved my life...i hold into my dreams so much that i want to keep leaving!
life i'ts not easy, but no one toll us that.. so don't expect too much. everithing depends of us. believe me!

It is normal to have mood variation when circumstnaces change. Being sick or being told you are stupid is a downer, being able to get rewards at work is an encouragment.
If the moods vary too far, then you have a problem.

Thats a great Q...I think it is because of the situations and the roles that we play in real life. Comes with the territory. And I think it is normal for us humans because we are people...
