It's interesting that you ask this... in an alternate time line we did try this....
In one version he did indeed tell us to leave him there, but we rescued him anyway.
This completely altered history because the christian church didn't come into being as the keystone to their claim had been removed.
Although this greatly improved the human race, under the new temporal directives created, we had to undo the changes and condemn the human race to hundreds of years of persecution.

He had the power to call on legions of angels to rescue him, and he didn't, which shows that he knew what he had to do and did it. There would be no salvation without the shedding of the Blood. We don't know why God chose to do it this way but I am eternally grateful that he DID provide a salvation for us. I certainly can't save myself. All you have to do is accept the gift.
He wouldn't say "sod off" but he would kindly refuse the offer. He even refused the offer of the drugged vinegar the minute he tasted it.
Thank you, Jesus.

"It is finished!" were the final words of Jesus as He died on the Cross.
He was born to rid the world of sin by act of his deat. It would have nullified His sacrifice if at the last moment He was whisked away to safety.
Where then the miracles that followed, the rising from the dead, (Easter), the experiences the apostles underwent that allowed them to 'speak in tongues' and go on to perform miracles on their own.
Jesus rose bodily into Heaven, when the heavens opened to receive him.
The act of His death was simply the beginning of Christianity.

It is theoretically possible , by moving at super light speed , to go forward in time , but things that have occured are part of the Supreme and cannot be changed. My personal theory.

Then the yahoos who wrote the Bible would still make up stuff about him in an attempt to make him fulfill the old prophecies.
We really don't know anything about Jesus, or even if he really existed. It doesn't really matter. People go by the stuff that was written decades after he supposedly died. That stuff was written to try to match Jesus to the popular prophecies of the time. You could write such a book about any person long after they've died, especially if there wasn't much written about the person's life to contradict what you wrote.

I'm sure Jesus would tell us to leave Him there. He had to die to make atonement for us. And the resurrection fulfilled prophecy, as did the rest of His life. As He said, that He could have called legions of angels to help.

this would be the one event in history which would radically change the human condition. am certain if one prevented JESUS from being Crucified at that particular point in time there would be another time frame when this action would take place.

Even better, why don't we hire the tardis, and take Jesus back through time to meet Mohammed and let the two of them fight it out. Mary might want to get together with the wives for a gossip and swap recipes.
