firstly remember jesus was of on consequence to judaism. only in a historical "what effect did a person by this name have on the world and how that effect relates to our group" sort of sense. entirely secular really.

many, probably even most, jewish people do belive that a person, named jesus, did indeed exist. and that he was a teacher, or even a rabbi.

some even go as far as to say he was a great and powerful teacher/rabbi, or even a powerful mystic.

but bottom line, is that the range of jewish people's belief as to jesus is ranging from "powerful mystic" to "maybe a person by that name existed in that time frame" with most in the "probably existed, but was just a teacher"

and to clarify 100%... there are no jewish people who belive he was the messiah, or god incarnate, or more divine than any other person. those who claim such, usually under the name "Jews for Jesus" or "Messianic Jews" are NOT JEWISH AT ALL. these are evangelical christians deciving people that they are jewish, in order to convert people without the target recognizing that they would be leaving their original religion.

edit: wheres this idea jews see him as a prophet? he wasn't.

http://www.jewsforjudaism.org/ Judaism and belief in jesus as any more divine than a regular person, or as the messiah, do not go together. if you belive he was either of those things, you are a christian, NOT jewish. this is a FACT. saying otherwise is like someone claiming to be christian and worshipping some obviously polytheistic, non-abrahamic god system, but claiming to be christian because they don't like the "baggage" of being called a pagan.

what he actually taught, was nothing new, just a different approach to it, in fact its my opinion what he basically tried was bringing the wisdom and knowlege of the Kabbalah to the regular person, but got lost in it and failed. and the rest was warped by the church.

and no, a Jew is not always a jew, they might always be a hebrew, but if they want to be honest, they would not say "messianic jew" or "jew for jesus" these are obviously, deliberately, and blatant lies and deception. if they were trying to be honest they would call themselves Hebrew Christians, thus giving recognition to their heritage, while being honest about their religion.

Some Jews DO believe Jesus Christ is the Messiah. Because of the negative connotation of the lable "Christian," they usually prefer to be called Messianic Jews.

Other Jews do not believe Jesus Christ is the Messiah. They believe that a Messianic Jew is no longer a Jew. Some believe Jesus was a great teacher, but nothing more; others believe He only sought to mislead Jews away from God. Jesus is mentioned in the Talmud, although the accuracy of these references are hotly disputed by Messianic Jews and Christians. Because of these references, it would seem Jews acknowledge Jesus did walk the earth.

One interesting issue is that some Jews believe Jesus was a prophet, but nothing more. The OT teaches that prophets are appointed by God and speak His words. So it is puzzling that He would be accepted as a prophet, yet His teachings are rejected. Incidently, Deut. 18:18 tells us that the Messiah would be a living, Jewish prophet.

I hope this helps. Peace and blessings.

EDIT: Brianna, God has not given you the ability to take away a Jew's cultural and religious inheritance. This is not a matter that any human can decide. You may not like it or agree, but a Jew is ALWAYS a Jew.

Like Sandy Patty's christian song "They could not". They looked at Him and just saw a simple man with healing in his hands, a carpenter leading fools stray but did they see his true purpose for been there, no, they could not. If they only knew that the true salvation of Israel is in Him, but again hey could not. Praise God. Salvation is first for the Jews then us.

The Jews certainly accept the historical existence of Jesus, as demonstrated by their Talmud (a later era, revised holy book).

But the nasty things they say about him (and his mother) are not at all pleasant, or appropriate.

As far as I know it's not that they don;t believe in Jesus as such, it's that Jewish people don't accept the New Testament at all.

They believe he was nothing more than a prophet..The Messiah they speak of is not the same to them as Jesus..He has a different name but it is the same one but they don't believe it..Before he comes back they will know though...just make sure you bless them because if you curse them you will be cursed,,so pray for thier land and the people...

The Jewish historian, Josephus recorded Jesus' death.
Josephus was not a Christian, just an historian. They believe Jesus was here, but not in who He is.

When Jesus said that he is son of God, he never said that you're not also God's son.
