So if your child had a cleft palate or downs would that give you the right to abort. Didn't Hitler do this sort of thing? These test can wrongly diagnose so babies have bee aborted for no reason and babies thought to have an illness have been born perfectly well.

im the same as you. i wouldnt have other tests because i felt no need to as i wuld keep the baby no matter what the results showed, so why bother?
i think its disgusting some people having late abortions just because their baby isnt perfect. then there are the cases as you say where people have been advised to have a late termination, only to find there was nothing wrong with the baby at all.
what a waste of nhs funds, and a terrible waste of life

The tests are to give the parents the choice should they wish to abort a baby with Downs or any other disability that they can pick up. Once again, the tests are at the choice of the parent if they wish to have them. Some parents can't cope with knowing their child will have Downs etc and sadly they decide what is right for them and most decide that it's not fair on the child in question. Even though a child with Downs or any disability can have a good quality of life if they are with a loving family.

I have always taken all tests that have been ask of me when I am preg
I have 2 friends one was preg the same time I was 1992 we both tested for HIV she was positive because she knows early she was giving med and the child was born with the decease
my other friend was dishonest she never told her doc that she have handicap in her family she was never test and her child is born handicap now with down syn but the child will never walk, talk, do anything for himself the child is 9yrs old
I still think that it is your choice but having certain done can be a help you don't have to choose to abort the child but at least you know and you can get ready(just a Little ) to deal with might be
and by the way you are not the minority, you are the majority
more women don't like the idea of testing
Good Luck

I would have all tests that were offered me. Knowing your child will be born with a defect / illness prepares you for what is to come. Nowadays, some procedures to correct these are done in the womb and the baby is born perfectly healthy.

Why do people assume that if you know your baby is not going to be perfect you will abort?? Personally, I would want to know if my baby was a downs baby, not to abort it, but to gather as much information and support as I possibly could.

I let them do all the bloodwork and ultrasounds/bpps they wanted. Here's why: I was told at 7 weeks I miscarried. Blood tests confirmed it. 13 weeks later, I was pregnant...and 20 weeks along. Apparently, not "again", but "still". The theory is I miscarried one of twins, but this one somehow survived. Family history made us wonder about the health of this survivor. My husband has had 4 of 5 siblings die of birth defects/congenital diseases. One at birth, two right after (hours/days), and one at 19. Had they found something wrong with our child, we would not have aborted, but knowing ahead of time would have given us a bit of time to prepare for whatever. His one sister was anacephelactic; she had no brain; only a brain stem. If we had had a child like that, we would have made her as comfortable as possible until death (it's inevitable with that condition), but also made preparations to donate whatever organs could be donated. With something like a heart defect (his brother), we could have made sure I delivered via c-section at the children's hospital (we would have had to get it approved ahead of time with our insurance-it's a bastard company). Not all people have tests done so they can selectively abort; others just want to be prepared. I think that if I had found out way before she was born that something fatal afflicted my daughter, instead of denial/disappointment/grief, etc. I would have been at least partly past that and better able to cherish whatever minutes or days I had with her.
If anyone cares, I gave birth to a very healthy, strong, literally perfect in every discernable way little girl July 1.

I declined all tests (except gestational diabetes and strep) after the first series of blood work all 3 times. Oh, and I had to have Rho Gam. It didn't make a difference to me if my child was going to be born with a birth defect. I wouldn't abort anyway. My doc said that if I wasn't planning to abort, what's the point of the testing? All 3 of mine came out just fine.

I had routine blood tests with all three pregnancies. I had the GBS test with all three pregnancies. I only had an u/s with #1. I only had testing for GD with #2 and #3. I declined the AFP all three times.

When offered a test, ask what information it would give you, how it is done (is it invasive?), and what would be done with the information the test gives. If there is nothing you would do with the information (terminate the pregnancy? change your plans for the birth?) then why take the test?

The most common one in my country is to lie down flat on my back and the length of the fetus felt to acertain pregnancy and the no. of mths.
Apart from that, I like urine test. I prefer scanning when my pregnancy is 4 mths old. Thats when I get this real feeling of a baby inside me.

Many common natural remedies are claimed to have blood sugar lowering properties that make them useful for people with or at high risk of diabetes. Learn here https://tr.im/qpOVM

A number of clinical studies have been carried out in recent years that show potential links between herbal therapies and improved blood glucose control, which has led to an increase in people with diabetes using these more 'natural' ingredients to help manage their condition.

I took all the normal tests and the glucose test, but I didn't take the one that tested for down's and what not. That test had a high rate of false positives. why get yourself worried for nothing. also, I already came to terms with the fact that I was having a baby, and I was going to love her no matter what.
