I have ,"self medicated", with pot for years...but I have had to ,"GIVE it UP", for recent employment opportunities.
YEAH WHATEVER, it also, (pot that is) when I run out, I just seemed to get more ,"DEPRESSED".
Thereoretically if I just never ran out, things would be fine.
But I will not take the risk of selling it ,just so I can have ,"My FREE STASH". And weed is expensive, and SUPPOSEDLY causes other problems, what with work, family, G.F., whatever.
And then...
See I am Bi-Polar.
I hate to admit it, especially to myself.
I can not stay on,"ONE TRAIN OF THOUGHT" for like even one minute.
But I do not want to do or take any meds, cause I have heard too many "horror stories" about people acting out their ,"angers", or whatever.
You know, like setting their house on fire, maybe cause of too much MED'S, or like , "going out and killing someone who they think really needs it, when they quit med..

thanks for the good advice,"bordercrazy21224"...
Just so ya know I did give up the HERB.
Though I still talk about it, think about it and sometimes think I still want it...
In the past 6 or 7 months, I have used it three maybe 4 times...well four.
The first three times it was aweful.
After being a daily user, then quitting for 77 days...anyway it was a mistake to try it again.
I still think about it, but I am done with it.
Thank you everyone for all your answers and for not judging me.

It is bad idea to self medicate. I did it with alcohol and it got me into more troubles.

You need to read up more on the illness coz obviously you have some serious misconceptions about being on meds.

Are you seeing a psychiatrist at the moment? I think you are confused. Were you diagnosed BP by a qualified psychiatrist or did you self-diagnosed? BP has a whole spectrum and which category do you belong to? Cyclothymia? BP I? BP II?

You will act out your anger if you're not on meds rather than the other way round.

Trust me, with this condition, self-medication is a bad idea.

You may wanna send me an email if you wanna talk more about it.

Cheers

The good news is you may not even be bipolar at all. There are several things that cause the same behavior of which you speak. I personally have been professionally diagnosed with being a borderline (I have borderline personality disorder and some other stuff as well). I can understand why you would not want to take medication because of all the horror stories out there, but realize also that that is what alot of them are...just STORIES. The media and people's misunderstanding of mental illness give those with it a bad name, for example. There really are some good meds out there which have little or no side effects...they usually take a few weeks to work, and alot of people that say they dont work usually get too impatient and quit them before the giving them a chance to kick in. I admit, that has been the case with me sometimes. There are also other medications that can relieve the symptoms of various illnesses while the other meds are slowly working, and yes the majority do make you drowsy, but you know they are working right away. Talk to a doctor or some kind of mental health professional about this...and keep in mind that mental illness is exactly what it says...AN ILLNESS, one that sometimes requires medication to regulate the chemical imbalance that causes it all, and sometimes it takes a while to get the right ones for your personal situation. I feel it is also important to remember that if you keep smoking weed to "fix" the problem, meds or no meds there is probably never going to be a chemical balance there, and you will never know what you are truly feeling...what are your real feelings and what is just the weed? And, just for the record, I know people that really are addicted to it...people who take money for their stash out before paying rent or utilities or diapers for their kids. AS for the theory that it is a gateway drug, it really depends on the person...I know both types of people. So its a roll of the dice there. Good luck.

You are experiencing "racing thoughts", which is a symptom of either mania or a "Mixed state" (depression can occur at the same time as mania ). You will feel much better if you take a mood stabilizer.
Bipolar is a tough diagnosis to accept (it took 5 yrs for me), but I now go to a world-class psychiatrist (affiliated with a teaching hospital), who has helped me beyond measure. I also see my therapist (psychologist) regularly, am religious about taking my meds, and go to a support group. Although I have ultra-rapid cycling bipolar disorder, my quality of life is high and even I remain stable. So, you see, there is hope!

Drugs suppress symptoms making them worse whether it is pot or a medication. See this page for natural ways to help under bipolar. Plus read story about a bipolar guy much worse than you. Also bipolar guy in mental instituition was taught to make jewelry for therapy. He found it very relaxing and now he makes a fortune from it. Then click on Rx for happiness.

It depends on the severity and sympoms you express. I talke trileptal which helps me sleep and slows my thought process to a normal level. It keeps me level. It is important for a person with bipolar to sleep. without sleep the bodyand mind will continue to go go go. I also use ativan to relieve sympoms of the anxiety that sometimes come with it.

My son is being treated for bi-polar and he takes meds for it. It seems to have really mellowed him out some. He still gets angry and functions in all the normal ways, he is just mellow now. He was really hard to deal with before.
