Olives!I have a recipe for spiced black olives that is a big hit a parties. I think I will make some today.
1 can whole black olives, drained
1/4 cup olive oil
1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme or 1 teaspoon dried
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon hot red pepper sauce
1/4 teaspoon salt
combine all ingredients in a ziplock Shake to coat. Refrigerate at least 2 hours or up to 1 month before serving. Serve at room temperature. Nice in a mixed olive platter.

Both are EXTREMELY fattening. But I would rather eat nuts over olives as a "munchie" snack. Olives are so heavy you have to really limit how many you can eat.
I hate cashews and peanuts...they have to be the two fattiest nuts too...but I simply don't like them.
My favourite nuts to snack on are walnuts, pecans, brazil nuts and almonds, in that order, and ONLY unsalted. I only really like black olives...those green ones are WAY too salty. I usually change the water in the jar and let it sit overnight before eating them. Sometimes I'll change it twice if it's still too salty.

Olives are preferable as nuts really ruin a Martini.
