This is a good idea, as long as you remain focused on paying it off by the due date every month. Also as long as you only charged things you normally would, and don't buy something as an excuse to build your credit.
Look for a credit card that does not charge you any fees.
Set up a reminder on your calendar to pay every month so you pay it in full every month. Or set up your checking account to pay at least the minimum due every month automatically, and then you can pay the remainder manually. You don't want to incur any penalty charges or pay late since you are trying to build credit.
As long as you are paying in full each month, you are right, the interest rate doesn't matter as much.
I would recommend getting a card that offers best reward. I prefer things that I would generally buy, like groceries, rather than an airline one that has restrictions. They give you points based on how much is charged on your card. And these points turn into actual money.
I would get a rewards card only if I was sure that I wouldn't increase my charges just to get more points.
There are a couple of sites I know of that help you compare. I'm sure there are more.
Oh and once your credit is built up, you should call them and ask them to lower the rate. Even if you don't plan to charge anything, you do want to pay the lowest rate when you made a mistake.

Not sure what you are asking here.. Anytime you make a payment by the due date, it builds credit..However, it doesn't matter whether you pay 10 days before the due date or 10 minutes before.. If you are talking about paying off the entire balance before the due date every month, yes that builds credit too...

1.make sure your not close to the max limit, be at the middle mark.
2.It's good if your paying it before the deadline. But how much are you paying? Hope not the amount it says, if you are, you're not going anywhere, your just paying the interest.
3.Play with your credit card/teasing it, charge it but DO NOT EXCEED the middle mark of your LIMIT/MAX.
4. If you have multiple credit cards, do not close it, it looks bad on you, but once paid off leave it active, and only use 1 major credit card w/good APR., & a lagit limit for you.

IF YOU ARE YOUNG AND / OR HAVE NO CREDIT AT ALL IT MAY BE HARD TO GET A CREDIT CARD THAT DOES NOT HAVE A FEE. YOU MAY CONSIDER A CARD THAT HAS A FEE BUT BE CAUTIOUS OF THAT AN ALSO RESEARCH THE YEARLY FEE AND INTREST RATE BECAUSE YOU MAY NOT ALWAYS BE ABLE TO PAY OFF THE BALANCE EVERY MONTH AND INTREST RATES MAY BE VERY HIGH ON THESE CARDS.
