I have travelled through most of Europe and my personal opinion is Greece. Although Athens is a jungle concrete city which is stifling hot in the summer, the rest of the country is so diverse and so picturesque for its size!
For instance, in the north-west you come across magnificent gorges and lakes and forests. The north-east is full of small dotted beautiful villages and wetlands full of wildlife (like the flamingo).
The West Ionian islands have some of the best beaches in the world (independent awards), see: Navagio, Porto Katsiki, Myrtos, Antipaxos.
The Peloponese is full of theatres, ancient ruins, history and wild flowers; Greece has the most species of wild flowers in all of Europe.
Crete is a magnificent island. Here you can find the longest gorge in Europe: The Samaria Gorge. The beaches here are truly overwhelming; check out: Chrissi island, Balos, Falasarna. And because of its subtropical climate, it contains the only wild palm tree forest in europe...
