For the time being the answer is most definately yes. I came into contact with somebody who had shingles while I was pregnant and the course of action that I had to follow even though I had already had chicken pox as a child was to have a blood test to check my level of immunity against the disease. Even if you have had chicken pox sometimes for various reasons your level of immunity isn't great. Once she has had this blood test you will both know either way if it is safe to have contact before your shingles have cleared up. If you have already had contact with her during the incubbation period, (i think this is about 2 weeks) please get her to go and see her GP or midwife anyway, and don't worry i'm sure it will be fine :-)

Herpes Zoster is NOT CONTAGEOUS.

It is caused by stress and anxiety and is the reactivation of the virus that causes chickenpox in children

IT IS NOT CHICKENPOX.

The person who has shingles had chicken pox as a child and the virus has been asleep in the nerve roots until some stress or anxiety, tiredness or shock has woken it up.

You can go near your daughter and there is no way it can be caught by her or the fetus.

If your daughter gets shingles - they are not yours - they are hers from when she had chickenpox and have resurfaced because of some worry and anxiety of her own.

Absolutely. Shingles is caused by the virus that causes chickenpox, and even if she has already had it it could damage the baby.

Stay well away. You could cause so much harm to your daughter and unborn grandchild. Leave it for quite a while after your symptoms have cleared before being around them again.

Definitely! Singles is a variation of the chicken pox virus which can be potentially harming to unborn babies and their mothers. Ask your Dr if you have any other concerns and to see how long until you are no longer contagious.
