You do not need to clean it at all. Mould reacts with ceramics to produce a self cleaning enzyme called 'mugdirty'. Leave it for another 20-30 years and you will find that the mug has miraculously cleaned itself into it's composite parts, sand and windolene.
Hope this helps.

hmmm well I'd start with pouring whatever's in there out, and maybe trying to give it a wipe with a paper towel or something. Then fill it with hot water and some washing up liquid (I'm sure you could use bleach or something too but I think standard liquid would be sufficient...) then just leave it standing until the end of the day. By then it shouldn't be a problem to clean it out like any other mug.

Empty the mould into the sink or bin if in the sink make sure you stick plenty of bleach down after and fill the cup with boiling water and bleach and leave to stand for a couple of hours just to make sure you kills all the nasty germs

I agree with the people who said bleach. Wash it with soap and hot water (and throw away the sponge), then give it a good soak in some "bleach water", rinse again with plain water before you use it, of course.

Pick it up, take it to the sink, wash it.
Really, do you need to ask?
(you can wash it as you would wash any other piece of crockery, just be careful the mold spores don't get up you nose -unless you are in need of a dose of penicillin)

Don't clean it out. Throw it away. Do you really plan on drinking out of it knowing what's been growing in it???
