It depends what you want to do.

A week is a short time. What I recommend is spending 3 days in Bangkok - shopping, check out the Grand Palace, and go to a floating market (this would be all you would have time for in Bangkok.)

Then either go to Koh Samet or Koh Chang (islands not so far from Bangkok) and spend a few days in either of these islands to get a taste of the islands of Thailand.

If you go by bus/ferry, it will take you a day to get there (roughly 8 hours).

To save time you can fly into Trat - from BKK (for Koh Chang, not Koh Samet) which will set you back 50-60 USD one way and then take a ferry from there. This should not take you more than 2 hours each way.

I would recommend Koh chang over Koh samet since Kho Chang is less touristy than koh samet (I have heard this place is a meat market!). Personally, Koh Chang is my favorite island (more than the southern islands) since it is very mellow. There are areas where you can party and places where you can really chill out. Great island!

Good luck and have fun.

My friend lives there. He would say that 1 week isn't long enough. You need a week for BKK alone. Where else do you want to go? More cities? Mountains? Beaches?

Buy a copy of Lonely Planet - Thailand. You'll have plenty of time to read on the flight over. The ideal lengthen of time would be three weeks, but plan your activities according to your interests and enjoy the shorter time.

Your 'Question"is too subjective! Maybe you can ask question by question in different posting to Yahoo Answer.

You may also search in the Internet. Just type: "Visit Thailand" and you will have tonnes of info on your screen...!!

Why don't you ask your questions here? or are they too rude to publish on here?
