Leave the skins on but cut them in quarters or eighths. Then hold each wedge by its two corners and put into your mouth with the skin facing outward. Use your teeth to scrape the fruit from the rind. This is the least messiest I've found to do this.

Since you are having all this trouble eating an orange, why not simply squeeze the orange thoroughly, and just drink the juice.
You will never get all messed up again.

Me too so I dont bother. However if you cut into segments that is less messy. If you are having for Vit C, then suggest you try Kiwi instead as they are more potent and one Kiwi fruit is equi to 8 oranges.

my mum used to squeeze and roll one in her hands to soften and mush the inside then make a whole in it with a knitting needle, then insert a straw and drink it, try that, that's what you call fresh orange juice, your hands should be dry
