get a special bag put the dummy in the bag put it on a tree and say the fairys coming to get it and then fill it with a few little toys for in the morning. really hype it up so that he/she will want 2 do it

We were lucky that my son got rid of his at 6months old himself, although he's two now and still drinks milk at night from a baby bottle.
My mother in law took my sister in laws dummy from her at 5 years old and concreted it into the patio so she could only see the ring part of the dummy, cruel as it sounds, it worked cos she couldnt get it.
My sister in law was a bit more drastic and put a few fishing maggots on the teat of her sons dummy when he was 3 yrs old and said thats what happens when you get too old for a dummy. He was instantly cured as well.
I dont think i'd do either of the above but i wouldnt really know what to do. There's a few ideas anyway.

Start by making a little hole in the top of it. Every week make that hole a little bigger and bigger. If you have to, start cutting little pieces of it out till the child no longer finds his comfort with it.

Make sure she only has the one, and next time you have it, drop it and make sure it appears broken. Let her see it's broken, then tell her you have to throw it away cos it's no good anymore. Then let her see you throw it in the bin. If she says you can buy her another one, tell her you can't buy them for big girls. Harsh, but it works! I did it with my daughter.
