By tradition, God revealed the story of the Garden to Moses who wrote the first five books of the Torah (Old Testament).
Too bad He didn't explain why there are two creation stories on Genisis (actually written by the same author, but probably handed down by oral tradition before that).

Actually your question is incorrect. Adam and Eve where NOT the first two people to be created. Adam, is the name that I gave to represent ALL man, Eve was the name I gave to represent ALL women. Nowhere in any book does it say I created ONE man or ONE woman, please re-read this section of the reference you are using, bible etc. Also, take note that I phrased it this way so that the people of that time could comprehend its message better. God has expanded on this for greater clairity to all.

Sorry your question has ALREADY been asked for over 5000 yrs. If you're going to attempt to ask questions regarding the Holy Bible and you actually kept reading it.....then you'd KNOW that ALL of the Holy Bible was written by men inspired of the Holy Spirit. Even the New Testatment. GOD wrote through their hands. You either BELIEVE ALL OF IT , or none of it. No in between. The same way we know the beginning of the Holy Bible is the same way know the ending in Revelation. People who don't believe will never see. Interesting how the Holy Bible is the MOST read book of ALL TIME. :) Yes I am a Christian and proud of it.

Its just an ancient theory. Some people in the past just theorised where man came from. Its quite mathematical actually. For primitive man it would make sense that at the very begining for humans there would of had to have been 1 male and 1 female, and they couldnt imagine anything other than Gods making them. Even back then people were thinkers on such matters.
So I would go with 'After the fact'
Now we know better. well , some do anyway.

Moses is accredited with writing the first five books of the Old Testament so it was handed down thru out the centuries as all the bible stories are. The question should be if Adam and Eve were the first and only two people, then were did Cain and Seth get their wives from?

The legend of Adam and Eve isn't unique. As a matter of fact most cultures around the world have similar stories about how all of humanity is descended from a single man and woman. Most of the other stories are actually older than what Christians say the world is.

They passed it down by word of mouth. Remember, these were people who had the full use of their mental capabilities. Further, being that they were long living, they would have been around to teach even the following generations. Also, Eden would have still been around at the time of the great flood.
Finally, the scriptures were inspired by God, through the Holy Spirit, and for them and how they experience the flow of time, it had been less than two days since creation.
