Do any of you great people think that the forgiveness they are expressing in the dawn of the ruthless and cold hearted shooting deaths of their young daughters is an admirable thing? My opinion is that they possess a deep and abiding faith in God and scriptures, that few of us would be able to grasp and practice. I pray that I too can be as forgiving, for it is said in the Bible that how can we expect God to forgive us if we can't forgive those who have done us wrong. It's a tough call, but a call we are all expected to practice..

I've found a new respect for these people .. although I do not agree with some of their beliefs ..

While most people around the world were outraged at what happend .. The Amish heeded what the bible says about forgiveness.

It brought a tear to my eye to hear their spokesman say that they have forgiven the gunman and want to COMFORT his familly.

wow!

I think their faith is misplaced, however good are their intentions. They must realize that there are good and bad people in this world, and God gave them the power to protect themselves. Since the psycho person committed suicide, there is little one can do other than to forgive and move on. Still, I think the Amish should use this opportunity and ask our society to do the needful reflection on whether we are running this world correctly. There's seems to be too much senseless violence lately.

They are amazing people. I admire them far more than any other sect of Christianity. I have visited Amish communities and just find them so much the entire picture of Christ. It's such a wonderful feeling to be with them. When you watch the new reports, you see newsmen and women visibly choking up over this tragedy, some of whom have seen massive torture sights around the world. That's how you feel with the Amish people. They are so enveloping... I cannot think of another word to describe the feeling. They are also pacifist, unlike me. God bless them.

Well if someone has done you wrong, you will have to forgive that person before God does, otherwise there will not be any forgiveness from God, on Judgement day.

It has to be the hardest thing in the face of what happened. Those people surely have the peace that could only come from God. They have the love of God abiding in them.

I was taught that forgiveness is what you do when you're too weak to take revenge. I can't imagine being able to just let go of it like that. But it's how they deal with tragedy in their lives, and how they must cope.

The measure you use to judge others will be used to judge you and if any man has hate in his heart for one of his brothers, he will never see the kingdom of God. WE are all sinners and equally deserving of forgivness and mercy.

One has to wonder, if the man who did this did not kill himself, and was available for punishment, if they would be expressing such forgiveness? Perhaps. Perhaps not.
