Is the said thumb placed up your ****?
No Actually Thumbs have many tendons which take a long time to heal, espacially when they are in a the hand which does not have a large amount of blood flow.

The tendons and ligaments take for ever to heal and as it is your thumb you are using it all the time and dont realise therefore will take longer to heal. Breaking it would have been better.
