Hi your desire is great....i appreciate it...me also interested in social service, but dont have enough money rite now to do, i belong to india and work in chennai......i recently joined my job...i feel 80% of beggars are doing this begging because they are getting money , i mean we should discourage this profession by knowing their problem , if that particular person is really well and active and in good condition to do some work , we should suggest to go for work ....i know in india some ladies are hiring(per day 30 to 50 Rs for parents, this is real case i seen ) very small babies and putting them in their hands and begging saying that they dont have food and milk for their baby....and other people are old people , whose (sons and daugters left home and kept parents alone , with out taking care of them, for afterall this materialistic life of 65 years, in my view life is so short), these old people really dont know what to do , if posssibe we should suggest to go and join old age care centre like that....there are many issues behind solving this problem.....but one can make changes in their locality , and this will inspire other people....best of luck bye bye

Begging will stop, the day all the wealth of the universe is thrown open for the enjoyment of all. No body should save any thing for the future. Private enterprise should be for the benefit of the common good. Society at large should be focal point of reference in the scheme of activities of the State. Individual welfare and his rights should subserve the common good. Then only, begging will drop off as a superfluity.

You can't stop begging.'Begger Industry' is one of the most profitable industry specially in India. What u will help them?If they wish then they can help you.I have come accross some of the beggers who earn more than a central government upper division cleark in India.Without study and with out inverstment if some one can earn so much money then why they should leave their profession? It is their attitude and if you really want o help them then stop thinking to help them,if they do not get money from the people then they will think twice whether to stick in this profession or not.

There is a way. You can help them by doing little things that don't cost a lot. You can give them part of your supper, you can give them an extra blanket you may have, you can give them a care package with matches, socks, hat, grocery store gift certificate. Then you tell them that when they get on their feet, they should help someone else that is down on their luck. This way you have made a change in not just one person.

Help them as you feel that you are able. Then give them copies of Ayn Rand's book "Atlas Shrugged". You must, of course, read this book beofre you hand it out. It is nearly 1200 pages. Of course, you want to help. We all do. But helping may mean teaching others to fend for themselves. That is what I am taking from Ayn Rand's works.

we must educate them to stand on their own feet and make them to realise that their genaration will follow the same of them.people should stop giving money or food in the name of karma, which the beggers take advantage.we must also encourage the small sellers in roadside atlest it help them to reduce their poverty which lead to begging .All the best.

You can give them your spare change, you can make up buy some food thats dont need to be cooked and pass it out to them, you can talk to them and get to know them and their story, you can offer to take them to a home -la -shelter, you can try to help them get a job. Talk to them find out what they can do job wise, get them some applacations and help them fill them out. However no one will hire a homeless person so you will have to help them find a place to live a homela shelter or something. Maybe if you can afford it you can pay to have them stay in a hotel for 1-2 nights. Maybe you could find a free clinic and take them too for medical help. You can gather up all your old blakets and sheets and pillows, and clothes and shoes and take them to the homeless people you see on the streets and pass them out to them. Instead of throwing them away or donating them to shelters or the goodwill.
If you can get to know some of them and can trust them well enough to bring them into your home. Take them to your house and allow them to shower and change into a clean outfit, allow them to get something to eat while there and relax. If you have the extra space you could allow them to move in for a month or so while you help them get a job. Then allow them to get on their feet help them find an apartment for their self. ( Only do that after getting to know them well enough to trust them.)
You can try to start free programs to get peoples attention to have them help you help the homeless people. Keep the service compleltly free for the homeless. Me and my husband help the homeless. After we get to know them and trust them some of them we allow to move into one of our other houses and its a 5 bed room so 5 people can stay or more at a time and we help them get on their feets and get their own place.
If you can afford to and only do this with those you can trust. Offer them to wash your car, clean out your barn/shed/garage, mow your lawn, shovel your snow, clean your house, and such maybe have them fix things around your house or build things like shelfs for you and pay them for their service. Once they get start to get on their feet help them make a budget that will work for them. Some of them are worthless cause they don't want help and don't want to better their self. However lots were not always homeless and just can't get some help to be able to better their self. So helping those who want it, help them to better their self.
