Best bit o advice me blessed father ever imparted on me. Their name. O its perfectly alright to call them honey, baby, babe... ...as long as their okay with you calling them that. But calling a person by their given name is always going to sound very sweet to them.

Make up a name that is specific to them, one of their traits you think is cute or something...nothing mean or rude.
I got my nickname (Bambi) because on our first date we went for a picnic and a hike...I am from the city and hadn't been hiking so he called me Bambi because he said I looked like a baby deer learning to walk through the woods...its cute

My wife and I call each other , " My Wife ....and her she calls me MY Husband " it sounded weird at first but in a round about way . It was showing respect and I kinda got use to it now .....You can call your special someone any thing. My Daughter Amy nick name is Memers..... Why , good question...... Her Uncle called her that one day and it stuck..... Now her husband even calls her that at times....... Who Knew
