If so, why do some think he is just a myth?

Calling Jesus a myth is a way the non believer can attempt to ignore him.

They forget about ancient historians such as Josephus and deny historical fact.

There is lots of evidence that Jesus was a real person, from Roman documents and others, i believe.

2nd point, same old thing. A high % of the population are afraid of almost everything, even down to paranoia about calories and skin ph, lol.

When i was a lad, we could drink cola, run around all day, smash glass, climb trees, play on the railway, ride a bike with no helmet, eat bacon, sausages and fried bread, not lock our doors, play outside in the street at night. Im healthier than anyone i know who worries about food ingredients, maybe because of thinking about the negative i go out and have a run or go cycling and then have a smoke and a drink lol. But anyway, back to the question......

People are afraid to belive in Jesus, Aliens, Angels, travelling faster than light, etc. They are afraid, so many times to hide there fear they are agressive or abusive because the old notion was that agression and abuse were signs of power and bravery. Modern times however show this, on a day to day basis, to be the opposite.
Is this relevant ?
Have a nice day

"Thy word is true from the beginning." Psalm 119:160
"The spirit will guide you into all truth." John 16:14

The Bible is true and Jesus is true and did exist is a Holy Man and always speaks the truth.
Just a warning: Satan has but a little time and is digging up some flaw in scripture, which is not surprising. After all, he found fault in heaven-and he was cast out..."remember"! Jesus is not a myth, nor is Satan. Be warned of Satan, and be ready for the 2nd coming of Jesus. Before it's to late!

As you are aware Jesus is not mentioned at all in the Old Testament, however, some Christians like to cite chapters and verses that talk about the Messiah, his lineage, and other facts as well.

Jesus is the main central character in the New Testament. I do not think that Jesus was any more a myth than Moses. Of course Moses didn't profess to be the Son of God.

Resistance to knowledge...

As I've said before, it amazes me that we live on the information highway and so many people with access prefer to sit on the side of the road. Not all people, but many.

Jesus of Nazareth appears in the census ordered by Herod and carried out by Quirnius in 6C.E., making Him 2 years old. Children under the age of two were not to be included in the census as Herod had ordered that they be killed. Thus, the discrepancy in dates is merely that Joseph registered he and Mary for the census on the very first census and was not required to register Jesus. They fled to Egypt for fear of Jesus life. When they returned, Jesus was over 2, over the age of Herod's murderous order, and included in the census. Quirnius was, by then, the census taker. Herod was dead. Josephus also records this census, but places the date as 4C.E. which is not included in the Bible and incorrectly has Jesus registered for census at birth.

B. C.

The poets of our Savoir
simply accepted their death;
centurions took off their wings.
They wrote about a man, His life,
while unheard tears fell by the road
they lived and wrote down His words.

They recorded the pagan years of mankind,
and all the pagan beliefs failed to comprehend
what died in the ruins beside a great civilization
they revealed His love, Rome showed no mercy.

The devil dogs of suckled cats are the bosomed
bronze idols Rome teetered on pedestals, Rome
blindly worshiped day and night, night and day.
Larks of gender too innumerable but repeated
in the cries of tortured souls for the only God
they tried to evangelize and erase their sins.

All the apostles died believing in Jesus.
Before Christ there was no such love,
for these few poets to gospel about:

Mathew, Mark, Luke and John.

Jesus the man, yes, there is a historical basis to believe he existed.

Jesus, the son of God, not so much...

In fact, the Bible even questions the divinity of Christ unwittingly by offering geneologies of Jesus, placing Jesus in places he could not have been if he were not the biological son of Joseph, and by admitting that he was not in any way unique as a rabbi. All one needs to do is understand the historical references to realize that it is all a cleverly constructed fable, like the flood, Exodus, and most morality tales in the Old Testament.

Pliny the Younger and Josephus both mention Jesus in passing, but that's mostly about disturbances in the Jewish community, not Jesus himself. Also, a majority of people do believe he existed physically.

The Romans, have physical records. They refer to him as "A man named Jesus". So he historically existed as well as Biblically.

there are things on the discovery channel, that research and investigate the history of Jesus Christ.

The acrhaeologists know that he did exist, but many people do not believe that he was and is the messiah.
