why do people cheat on relationships?

It just one things i can't get why people are unfaithfull while they could just tell their partner i dont want you anymoore or just let the other person they are into it for one day or one week lol!

BECAUSE THEY ARE GREEDY AND WANT MORE THAT ONE.... CRAZY AND DONT REALIZE THAT THEY HAVE MESSED UP A GOOD THING FOR NOTHING.... THEN IT IS TOO LATE AND THEY WONDER WHY THEY CANT BE TRUSTED AGAIN..... IF SHE GIVES HE ANOTHER TRY...ITS NO GOOD BECAUSE SHE WILL NEVER TRUST U LIKE BEFORE....

It depends on the person but I think that people who cheat have not thought about the effects it would have on their FUTURE. They don't seem to think about that at all. If you've cheated on an ex (and you can bet they'd be an ex, unless you're REALLY lucky) and tell a new partner or they ask then most likely they would have issues with trusting you (like the motto 'once a cheater, always a cheater'). If you keep it from them or say you haven't cheated it wouldn't work out because relationships built on such dishonesty ALWAYS fail.

People make so many excuses for cheating. Like they were drinking. That is so lame. To get to that point they'd have to be almost passed out. And why in the world even get that drunk in the first place if they knew they'd be around members of the opposite sex? What did they fall on somebody on the dancefloor at a club and their 'parts' happned to come out? No, they made the decision to go somewhere private with that person. Generally people know exactly what they want and don't want even if they are pissed drunk. Beyond that and they most likely aren't conscious. So being too drunk to know better? YEAH RIGHT! I just DON'T buy that.

Scientists have recently confirmed that humans do INDEED have a monogamy gene. Perhaps not all of them but some (I KNOW I do and I don't give a flying **** about how we were thousands of years ago). They aren't too sure about the men to women ratio (percentage of men that have it vs. percentage or women that have it) but they do know that it exists!

Because alot of people as they say, want their cake and eat it too!!! Some men and women just like swleeping with alot of people and others that have been with someone for a long time,(dating or married) what what they aren't getting from the person they are with so they look elsewhere to get what they are looking for but they don't want to give up what they already have so they cheat and try to hide it from their partner! Either way it is not a good thing and people always get hurt out of it in the end! I feel if you aren't or can't be honest in a relationship with someone, then what the hell are you doing in that relationship to begin with? Make up your mind, either be commited to it or get out of it!!!

The question you ask is a good one. I wish you wouldn't laugh out loud, though. People are taught to supress that urge, that most basic of drives, their whole lives and when it overwhelms them, they go for whomever is most available at the time. I say embrace that carnal drive to just get dirty and sloppy, but learn to do it with someone you care about. Have you ever seen "Eyes Wide Shut"? Good stuff (however ironic b/c Tom and Nicole got divorced right after they made that movie)

Because we are stupid? I am a one time cheater and I still can't for the life of me figure out why I did it, but I can tell you I still regret it to this day and if I could go back and erase it I would. I started a down hill spiral nose dive in the relationship I am trying desperately to save now. It is the one TRUE regret I have in my life.

It's called being a coward, lazy and greedy. Being a coward because they're too afraid to confront their "lover" before cheating. Lazy because they lacked the will-power to hold off on the special night that could happen with they're secret hook up, and wait to tell their partner. Greedy because many want to get away with having both their parnter and the one their cheating with secretly.

I'll tell you why people cheat. Cos we, as in humans, were not meant to be monogamous, it just aint natural. When it comes down to it we all just evolved animals with instincts. Apes used to have many partners, and thats why we just cant settle with one. Take a look at ur own life and tell me i aint right.

It's not an easy thing to tell your significant other. You have given so much into a relationship and you don't want to hurt them, even though cheating is going to cause more pain, its just not easy to tell someone you once loved that you don't love them or want to be with them anymore. So, it is easier to just do things behind their back.

I think all couples cheat on each other .. but in different levels..

Someone use imagination and thoughts..others use the Internet for instant...

Others.. they just do it once in their life... while others keep doing it ..

At the END I believe that we all cheat ...it is just how we do it.

But the ultimate question WHY...?? because we are humans.

Some do it while under the influence. My ex cheated on me while drinking. :( Well, I call it cheating but to some it's not cheating. :s His sis told me that he didn't cheat on me after I told her what he did. Some just can't remain faithful. Some find themselves "caught up in the moment". That's why some cheat in rels.

They feel that they will really hurt the other person badly. If they cheat, at least, they think they will be able to get away with it without no one noticing.
