It is appropriate to buy a gift. But do buy something cheap and simple. Like a small toy or a little teddy bear or something. Just to show you care. Or a pack of diapers. Theyll need it...:-) But stay cheap, if you ve only known him for 3 weeks more then 5$ would be to much....

The fact that you've found out that your personal trainer has a newborn means you know enough about them. Perhaps get them a card and a small toy like a little teddy-bear or even a little ceramic bear thing.
You're already paying the guy for services rendered so in a way he's already benifitting - that said though in the very least, a card would be nice.

If you're gonna give him a gift, go to Wal Mart. They have some cheap stuff. Don't go out & shell out $20 tho. Maybe buy a small toy or something. I think it's ok to buy him a gift. Esp if it's not gonna cost that much.

Me personally, I always give diapers and maybe wipes to go with it; depending on how much you want to spend. You can "always" use diapers!! If it is a newborn, I always go for the next size up, which is the 12-18 lbs babies. And yes, I think he would appreciate a gift; no problem there. This is my opinion.

You should be able to do as you please. If you would like to buy a gift do so - nothing too extravagant, maybe booties or bibs, something practical but thoughtful.
If you feel uneasy when you give it to him, tell him you only bought it so he would go easy with you and not order so many repetitions, or that you felt tempted to but chocolate and bought the gift instead.
Congratulate him nonetheless.
Good luck, not only with your dilemma, but your fitness!

if you like the trainer, then a small gift maybe $5-$10 would be nice.

Un-necesssary and a little overboard.....just congratulate him warmly and ask how the baby and mother are. His wife would probably frown on you giving him a gift...especially when she probably feels less than excitingly fit or pretty at the moment. She can do without the non-existent but possible competition?

very nice of you, It doesn't have to be expensive, maybe some kind of piggy bank with some money in it & a book mom & dad can read to them. You can never start to early.
