With webcams and digitals cameras in most homes now, I think people have this train of thought that the image someone sends them is of the person they are talking to. This image could have been taken off any number of websites, better yet it could be of one of their siblings. The sibling or friend thing could be true when your "webcaming" with someone as well. Even if you do see the real image of the person you are talking to, their is the next issue which is what they really do or what their personality is really like. You can be anyone you want online.

I agree with you. A few years ago I used to be heavy into chatrooms & chatting with people online. I "caught" many people faking their internet personalities & pictures. It's the internet, it's hard to trust anyone. However, there are some honest people out there (I, myself, being one of them) so you just have to pick and chose wisely.

From day one I have approached internet encounters with the attitude "believe none of what you see, and only half of what you read". You are absolutely correct. Anyone who believes that you can know all you need to about a person by chatting with them online is a true blue fool.

Most people are surprisingly honest about who they are but fail to reveal their bad traits. In the short term, people can put across anyone but if you remain net friends with someone for any length of time, it is harder to keep a lie going.

I totally agree. People get the notion that when online, that their free to be whoever they want... their perfect self, so to speak. They are free to do that, but I don't think it's morally right.. giving someone the wrong impression of you, just to satisfy your own personal judgement of yourself. This is a good one!

You answered your own question. You have to grow to know someone and that requires being physically around each other. Sharing lifes experiences.

Did u watch Dr.Phil? lol.....well, if you're that concerned, just have fun with it....I don't feel the need to make up something, because I'm comfortable with me...I like myself, and if you meet someone that is making up stuff, they r not happy with being who they are, I only chat with one stranger, and I like him!
