I have a few computers and one of them is mostly for kids to play with. I use it's hard drive as a "slow storage" of sorts over my network. I'd like to know if there's a way to make it so I can have a program run over windows with some simple buttons that link to games or a children's website, while still allowing me to access the hard drive over the network.

The computer is running windows XP.

In XP make a 'limited user' account...**Note: You will want to Password protect your 'administrator account'....

Set the 'Content advisor' Click tools>>Internet Options>>Content>>Content Advisor

You will also want to change some other options...Click tools>>Internet Options>>Security>>Click Restricted Sites>>then Click Custom Level and set it to High....

To add links to the desktop...Go to the link you want to add..Click File>>Send to>>Shortcut to desktop...

I'm not sure I know what you are talking about. You should still be able to access the HD even though the kids are using the computer. You can make some desktop icon to go to games and such.

None that I know of, but why not:

Create separate accounts for your kids. Save specific web sites as desktop shortcuts. Disable the address bar in Internet Explorer. Remove any extra programs yo don’t want your kids using and remove all permissions on their account, essentially making it the same as the “guest” account on the machine.
