You shouldn't have a problem with the ID but the check in takes forever...

Go back to Romania get a new passport and a visa and maybe come back to the States, that will keep you legal. Good luck.

I don't see why that would be a problem, so long as it is valid. I think you just need 'governmental picture ID'.
