well gee, it seems to me if there is a camera at an intersection, that means there does not have to be a police officer there wasting their time catching speeders, one could logically deduce from that then that there is one more police officer out catching the real criminals....
Unmarked cars have become necessary because whether or not you are aware not all situations require big shiny lights, sometime the situation calls for a bit more discretion....

Waste of money? What are you talking about. My husband is a police officer and he not only works his rear end off, he doesn't get paid that much. He only makes his real money when private companies hire police for details. But he loves being a police officer and helping people. Yes, I think they should have cameras in traffic lights, and all over the city for that matter. The only people who mind the unmarked cars are those who have something to hide. If we kept a better watch over the city, then maybe people would start obeying the laws!! I say hire more police, put in more cameras, more unmarked vehicles, and higher fines and penalties!!

yes, well where i live they have them at lights but not just for tickets but they get a lot of car accidents and that helps out with that as well! If you got hit and it wasnt ur fault but the other guys says it was, that's where the camera comes into play, they can find out for sure!
I like the unmarked car thing, I mean they have several different vehicles they use and u never know where they r they blend in with the rest of us. No it's not them being lazier, it's them being smart! cause now when they see wrong doing, people dont think about them driving unmarked cars so they go on about their business then BAM the cops r there! It's a surprise effect...people dont know what to do when that happens.
so yeah it's all for the better if ya ask me!
Plus walk a day in their shoes then tell me how lazy u think they r!!!

Ummm.... How do you think we sneak up on the bad guys, it's in those unmarked cars. So go watch some more movies where the bad guys just stand there while the cops come up with lights and siren.

It seems to me the cameras you're talking about would free up the police to work more on those theft gangs and crimes that are a bigger danger to society.

I think unmarked cars are useful in giving cops the ability to see criminal activities going on when a marked car would scare it off. I am agaainst the use of traffic light and speed cameras as they do nothing but raise money for the government.

Lazy? Obviously you have never ridden with a police officer, even on a so-called quiet night, or else you wouldn't make a statement like that.
As part of our local Citizen's Police Academy, we got to do a ride-along for one shift. In that time, I watched the officer: chase two suspects in home burglaries, take them to the local jail and book them, investigate a rape allegation (including interviewing the victim at the hospital), investigate a possible store break-in, and write a couple of traffic cites in between. And the officer said it was a fairly quiet night!
If that's "lazy," I'd hate to see busy. God love our cops -- they do a tough job and most of them do it very well.

I think what ever they have to do or how much money it take to stop people from driving irresponsibly then they should do it. The police would have time for bigger crimes if they didn't have to keep responding to idiots who cause accidents by speeding or running red-lights....sounds like you got a ticket....

If those cameras also document civil rights violations, brutality, and show of force, I'm all for them.
