My wisdom tooth have been bothering me for about a year. I went to the dentist and they said that i wouldnt need to get them removed because i had enough space in my mouth, so within the year the pain would come and go. The last week or so, i think my left wisdom tooth is growing,,,it is very painful. I know the doc said that it is normal since its growing but my throat is swollen also. is it because the area near my wisdom tooth is inflammed? or can it be something else.but why would the left side of my throat be swollen and its hard for me to swallow.

You need to go and see another dentist. It sounds to me like you may have an abscessed tooth.
For now, you can try gargling with warm salt water. Drink tea with honey in it to soothe the sore throat pain. The dentist will probably put you on an antibiotic. He won't pull the tooth until the infection is gone.

Wisdom teeth can do funny things. I havnt been to the dentist since I was 12(now 24) and my wisdom teeth get swollen, crown, the go back down again throughout the year, and yes, sometimes I get a sore throat too! Its extremely painful when my gums swell and I can feel them crowning, and extremely frustrating when they disappear again! I tend to think EVERYONE has enough room in their mouths, dentists are mostly shonky. All animals on the planet rearrange their mouths with little help, why should we be any different? I think the process Im going through proves that your wisdom teeth will 'feel' the way until they get it right, just like every other animal will(speaking from experience with dogs, cats, horses etc) All I can suggest for you is gargle some salt water for your throat, take some pain killers and if your really worried, get back to that dentist!

If they aren't taking your problem serious, I'd go to someone else just to get a second opinion. Especially if it's been this long and irritated to the point that it's hard to swallow. Cutting teeth, no different then a baby, does hurt. But if the teeth are putting pressure on your other teeth and making it hurt, then you need to have them removed. Really you could probably just skip a second opinion and just find an oral surgeon to make an appointment with to have them removed. (Although it might be best to check up on the various symptoms first.)
The taking out is a lot less traumatic then most would imagine, but I will say that the worst part is later on when you are home trying to recuperate. Make it a morning appointment and be prepared to take at least a couple days off work or school.
I could have kept mine, they were not causing me any problems, but they wanted to take them out because I had had braces and they could have potentially ruined the alignment the years and money paid for with braces.

You really need to see another dentist. You may have an abcess or if the wisdom teeth are really giving you problems then you should have them taken out. It is a fairly easy procedure that will usually only take one visit. When you go to the new dentist tell her/him the exact symptoms that you are having and ask for something for pain.

I think you should go back to your doctor and make sure you don't have Strep or something of that nature. Another thing it could be but don't keep this from going to your doctor, is you may be cutting your wisdom tooth. I am more concerned about your sore throat....call tomorrow and get checked....immediately.......I don't mean your dentist....I mean call your general practictioner!

I think you need to get a second opinion. I had mine cut out when I was 17, I have heard that if they don't grow right they could grow into your nerves.
