My doc switched me to 4mg of Klonopin straight off and I'm not feeling right. The drugs are very similar, but that little chemical difference has a big effect when switching from one to another after long term use. I mean between the xanax and klonopin. Wouldn't it be easier to slowly switch me over to klonopin, then get off of that kinda slow? These drugs help a lot if you have problems with anxiety and/or panic, but they really mess up your mind. I can't think right, short term memory is real bad along with my concentration and the ability to hold thoughts or learn much.I hope this cognitive dysfunction isn't forever, when i finally do get off of them. Any answers or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I say get a new doctor! I'd almost be tempted to report him to the medical board! I was on Valium at one time, then I found out I was pregnant and quit it cold turkey without asking a doctor...it almost killed me! I shook, and I mean SHOOK for three weeks straight in an almost constant state of shaking, chills, and cold sweats as if I were having a mild seizure. Those were just the physical effects. The mental effects...I couldnt think straight. At all. May I ask, why did he switch you to Klonopin, and for the love of God why did he stop the Xanax cold turkey???

ther is another medication for anxiety out there now it is Gabitrol. It has less side effects than xanax ( in my book a very dangerous drug) or klonipin. My daughter has severe anxiety attacks and has been hospitalized for them in the past xanax did a number on her including blackouts . She has been on Gabitrol for 6 months with terrific results, they switched her directly from one to the other. Also im a nurse and read up on the drug before she switched. Going from xanax to klonipin can be done without tappering the xanax. She hasnt had all the bad side effects you listed since switching to Gabitrol. Good luck, panic attacks really can mess your life up.

This motives a shrink in estrogen that still ought to impact her want. Or she ought to in easy terms be bored to death in it after 34 years. It dosen't recommend she dosen't love you or desire to be with you. I certainly have the choice view of maximum in this internet site. i'm optimistic you sense like she is being egocentric, yet there is an underlying situation in the back of this. Why do no longer you ask her and spot what she says. i can assist you comprehend from my own experience, that my guy did each and all the failings you say yet he tremendously plenty skipped over me something of the time. It grew to become a great turn off for me because of the fact I felt as though the only concern he wanted me for develop into intercourse. It made me sense undesirable and it made me sense low-priced.

You are right.
Xanax is a short acting benzodiazapine. Tapering off a long acting benzodiazapine is easy. So you have to gradually switch to a long acting benzodiazapine first.
