Without the password. I don't feel right about giving them my SIN number, so I am considering other options towards making them feel secure about rent. (They want to do a credit check)

They want my bank account number and my social insurance number. I was trying to think of other ways they can access info on how much I make a month without telling them those particluars.

is the bank account number as sensitive as the SIN number? if so, how?

They don't care about how much you make - your paycheck would do that. The credit check is MORE about, how well do you pay your rent, and are you the type that's inclined to trash a unit when you leave it. The lower the credit score, the more problems there are with the tenant.

Most landlords use credit scoring to screen new tenants. I wouldn't worry about giving him your SS#.

Credit Checks Do NOT require any Sensitive Banking details(Like Your P.I.N)
NEVER giver out this Access Number!
Consult your bank-They will provide you with a Correct procedure!
When Dealing with Any landlord-Know where you Stand legally before signing Anything or Disclosing ANY personal Information!

Never, ever give anyone your Sim number. Your landlord has no right to request that information. Credit check can be done without having access to such sensitive & very private information.

Do your own credit check and give them the print out from the Credit Bureau...never give anyone your PIN or SIN #, no matter what reason they give you for wanting it.

I am a land lord and in my applacation you are required to give them the information they need for you to be checked for credit,
