It looks like they are considering it, in the absence of nationwide enforcement:

"The City Council will meet Thursday to discuss ramping up ordinances to combat illegal immigration, including new anti-loitering laws, sanctions against those who hire or rent living space to undocumented immigrants and a training program that would allow police officers to act as immigration officials. Council members say they’ve been talking about doing so for several years"

Others object, and here is what I think is a hilarious objection:

"Gascón said that a shortstaffed police department should not be distracted by whether the people committing the crimes are here illegally. "

What do you think?

Angela, under law those here on non-immigrant visas are supposed to pay tuition if they are in public schools. Schools are not allowed to waive that. So how does it work if they don't even ask?

I hear so many people complaining about how bad illegals have over run their state....Honestly, the state is part to blame....You cannot blame everything on illegals...In Texas, we too have a lot of illegals, and here in my city, they tried to exploit the welfare system, the city put a stop to it, by requiring SS#, granted some have fake ones, but many others do not and cannot get benefits...Also, the local university and public schools don't ask students for proof of citizenship, why is that?.....I know a lady, who's four daughters, all went to the university, paid for by tax payers, and they have all graduated with honors....I am happy they are not out committing crimes, but I also resent the fact, they got a free college education, paid by US citizens....Its a complicated issue and there are many loopholes and this govt. makes it too easy...That having been said, if you come illegally, PAY your way, don't expect govt. handouts and please don't come here to commit crimes.....I support amnesty but with some major restrictions...

I certainly hope they go through with these ordinances and hope other cities will follow suit. Anti-loitering laws would be a good one for all those cities where the illegals hang out in front of Home Depot looking for day labor jobs. I think as more and more of this sort of thing is publicized in the news, more and more cities will follow with similar laws and ordinances of their own as they will begin to worry that the illegals who are being chased out of those cities may well be heading for theirs and those cities who don't get on the bandwagon and do something about their illegal immigrant situations are going to find themselves literally flooded with illegal immigrants to the point that they can no longer handle the burden on their economic structure.

I pray to God that they do, Arizona is so concentrated full of illegal immigrants that if we could stop them and do something about it now, it might effect the entire country years later. I'll be praying that they do join in the fight, and remember EVERY VOICE COUNTS!!!!!
