There are some flowers that close at night when temperatures cool and humidity is higher to protect the pollen from excessive moisture.
The following are some of those flowers:
*Crocus
*Hedgehog Cactus (Echinocereus engelmannii)
*Morning Glory (Ipomoea)
*Bloodroot (Sanguinaria canadensis)
*Spring Beauty (Claytonia virginica)
*Sun daisies (Osteospermum)
*gazanias
*sun rose (Helianthemum)
*moss rose (Portulaca)
*New Guinea Nightshade / Potato Plant/blue potato tree (Solanum rantonnetii)- closes its violet blue flowers at sunset

the flowers which are sensitive to temperature and light are called nyctinastic.the positively nyctinastic flowers close at night due to the shrinking of the petals and the sepals for low temperature and absence of light.provision of adequate light and temp. may result in the openong of the flower.
