Monster surge protectors are terrible. Panamax is with out a doubt the way to go if you know this industry. If you have an audio system along with your plasma then dont be afraid to invest $500-$1000 for your surge/line conditioner. They really do make a diffrence on many different levels.

Do not get a surge protector, get a battery-backup power supply (UPS). These include surge protectors, but also will switch to battery backup if the voltage gets too high or too low. Prolonged operation at too low ("brownout condition") or too high power line voltage can damage the set's power supply, and may be more of a hazard than surges. Also, there can be momentary power turn-offs (one or two seconds) which are particulary harmful to the set. The battery backup will keep the power on through those.

Check the power spec on your TV. Get a battery backup that equals or exceeds that power rating. Be careful, in the the backup units are usually specified in volt-ampere ratings; pay no attention to that--look for the fine print to where the wattage rating is given--usually 60 to 80 percent of the volt-ampere rating.
