I know us Pentecostals both Oneness and Trinity speak in tongues, I was wondering if Baptist or Methodist do as well.?

Before someone one answers this question, if you don't understand this gift I advice you don't to speak against the holy spirit, if you don't understand the gift you better off not answering this question.

Blaspheming the Holy Ghost is a unforgiven sin, so if you don't understand it or believe in it better off not to answer the question at all.

There are a lot of different churches that believe in tongues. Some may not interpret it the same as another, but when the Holy Spirit enters you, and you begin to speak in tongues (other languages) that is a God given gift. Interpretation is also advised in order to benefit the rest of the congregation. Glad you made that last statement, but you are going to get a lot of hateful responses. Many times I have spoken to the Lord in private in words I myself do not understand but I know He does. It always occurs when I am in need of his Grace.

WOW! If you actually think someone doubting, even denying, the speaking of tongues is blasephemy of the Holy Spirit, and is unforgivable, you need to spend less time speaking in tongues and more time studying the Bible!

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is more than just denying the miraculous. It is being a first hand witness to an undeniably miraculous event, understanding that it must have come from God, but claiming it came from Satan. The only way someone could blaspheme the Holy Spirit today when it comes to speaking in tongues is if someone saw a missionary (or other person) speaking to someone else in a language the missionary did not understand, so that the missionary could share the gospel of Christ, and then claim that the missionary was demon possessed.

To answer your question, however, most Baptists do not speak in tongues. Apostolic churches do, however, and I'm pretty sure the Vineyard churches do, as well.

As I understand it, there are charasmatic beliefs in some Baptist churches and Catholic churches... but as I understand the scriptures the only time tonques are spoken is when the Holy Spirit has something to communicate and the Spirit will provide a translator.. Unfortunately, I have been in those churches where tongues where (supposed) uttered yet I was left unaware of what was being said... leaving me confused... and we all know that confusion is not of the Father's plan... but I won't put God in a box and say it is not possible... for He will do His will.. and I know that He can and will at His pleasure do many works of wonders... I just am not convinced I have witnessed it... so I suggest those that are glossilating be sure that it is of the Spirt of God and not just done with a fleshly motive..

1Corinthians 13:8 Love never fails. But prophecy will pass away. Speaking in languages that had not been known before will end. And knowledge will pass away.

How about blaspheming the spirit by claiming that it did not do what has been done?

So many churches today are big on what they call "speaking in tongues" but what they have IS NOT WHAT THE SCRIPTURES DESCRIBE. Clearly the scriptures speak of LANGUAGES.

Ac 2:6 A crowd came together when they heard the sound. They were bewildered because they each heard the believers speaking in their own language.
Ac 2:7 The crowd was really amazed. They asked, “Aren’t all these people from Galilee?
Ac 2:8 Why, then, do we each hear them speaking in our own native language?
Ac 2:9 We are Parthians, Medes and Elamites. We live in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia. We are from Pontus, Asia,
Ac 2:10 Phrygia and Pamphylia. Others of us are from Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene. Still others are visitors from Rome.
Ac 2:11 Some of the visitors are Jews. Others have accepted the Jewish faith. Also, Cretans and Arabs are here. We hear all these people speaking about God’s wonders in our own languages!”

1Co 14:1 Follow the way of love. You should also want the gifts the Holy Spirit gives. Most of all, you should want the gift of prophecy. 2 Anyone who speaks in a language he had not known before doesn’t speak to people. He speaks only to God. In fact, no one understands that person. What he says with his spirit remains a mystery. 3 But anyone who prophesies speaks to people. He says things to make them stronger, to give them hope and to comfort them.
4 Those who speak in other languages build themselves up. But those who prophesy build up the church.
...
1Co 14:6 Brothers and sisters, suppose I were to come to you and speak in other languages. What good would I be to you? None! I would need to come with new truth or knowledge, or a prophecy or a teaching.
1Co 14:7 Here are some examples. Certain objects make sounds. Take a flute or a harp. No one will know what the tune is unless different notes are played.
1Co 14:8 Also, if the trumpet call isn’t clear, who will get ready for battle?
1Co 14:9 It’s the same with you. You must speak words that people understand. If you don’t, no one will know what you are saying. You will just be speaking into the air.

Tongues HAD a purpose. Per apostolic instruction, they were to be used in the assembly ONLY when someone understood that LANGUAGE. Paul said doing otherwise led to confusion and erected barriers to those outside the church that might be visiting.

I do think that religion can heal. Why does god now not heal the amputated ? I will ask a deeper query : why did god create the reason for the amputation? Why did god create such a lot of bodily disabled persons . and through yet another extension, why did god create such a lot of mentally disabled persons- those who can't see the wonders of the sector god has created , and nonetheless looking to impose their will on unwilling persons? We have no idea what god's plans are . We need to have religion that what occurs to us is for our possess betterment , for our upliftment . One must talk within the language of 1's competency . That means you desire you're capable to carry what you wish to mention with out ambiguity. We don't seem to be acquainted in all languages or mom tongues. A preacher chooses the language he can speak freely to his congregation . Televangelist in neighborhood indicates are intended for neighborhood viewers and for this reason they talk within the tongue the neighborhood is familiar with great.

no one speaks in tongues.
it's just that many claim to

babbling like an idiot isn't consistent with the bible's idea of "speaking in tongues"

it would mean suddenly speaking a language perfectly that you've never known a word of before.

it's never been demonstrated. not once.

Those who claim that babbling = speaking in tongues have clearly never read their bible... and this is coming from an agnostic! Even I know better.
