Without much more to go on, I'd suggest you check out some of the body-centered meditation and psychotheraputic techniques like somatic experiencing or hakomi. Maybe identify a therapist with training in these or similar areas. Alot of times the compulsive drive for "bad habits" reside within the body at the unconscious level as the result of unprocessed traumas, emotions and energies in the body. For some, these techniques can be more helpful than talk therapy alone in identifying and processing the underlying energies, blockages and emotions that may be the impetus for the behavior. Good luck with it.

I'm not sure what your habit is, but if its so terrible I say force yourself to go back to the anonymous group thats probably your best bet. All in all, if your habit is something that needs to be purchased...leave your wallet, check book and credit cards at home when you go out. If it is something that is more like an Obsessive Compulsive thing...find something to replace it I guess. Other than that good luck.

You made the decision to create the bad habit, make the decision to stop the bad habit. Nobody likes to be "controlled, right? Well, it you have a bad habit, you're "being" controlled! Get an attitude about it, and control your habit right back! Only "you" can make or break that habit, so just do it, okay? good luck & god bless.

What's the habit? Is it an OCD type thing? If so, there are medicines available for help ease those symptoms, specifically Luvox, which is a great med for OCD treatment (although not many docs prescribe it, since there are fancier, more expensive SSRI's out there for them to give you, but Luvox is the best at treating OCD, obsessions, and compulsions). If it is more like a routine you are stuck in and are too stubborn to get out, medicines like Risperdal help. I only recommend medicine because it seems like you have exhausted other alternatives.

The best way to get rid of one bad habit to to develop a new more addictive bad habit to replace it with. Then your former addiction doesn't seem very important anymore. Not that if you are trying to quit smoking you should start shooting up instead mind you, but if you are a TV addict become a computer addict instead.

Realize there is life after death. If you know that you come back again, it helps you to realize that there is more to life than what ever you crave. There is so much more to life that money, food, and sex. I think this may be the spiritual uplifting you are looking for. This has nothing to do with religion, you can still believe in god, just know life is not black and white. There are many shades of gray. It is not you live and die. There is so much more, out there to explore, and to occupy your thoughts with. Good Luck

Apparently you havent hit rock bottom yet. I was a raging alcoholic and was headed straight for an early grave until one night I fell to my knees and prayed for God to take the taste of alcohol away from me and then I went out a couple of nights later and got really, really drunk and really, really sick and I havent had the desire to drink ever since. Prayer works, you just have to be really sincere. But I never asked him to take the taste of coke away from me and that is a demon I battle every day. Just remember-One Day at a Time!!!!!!

You don't want help, you are hiding behind your habit. If you wanted help, you would have stated you habit, which you did not. Good luck to you, but start opening up and being honest.
