I have to ask - is that the avatar you wanted? It's scary. I hope it doesn't resemble the asker.
And no I don't think you can make yourself have visions or a religions experience unless you are talkilng about something simple like going to church!

Why would you want to make yourself have those? ...hopefully what you are asking is to be able to feel and recieve messages to guide you in your life...
First and foremost your heart and head must be open. You must love all things postive in your life. Do not dwell on the negative things. Be confident and eat healthy. Basically you must prepare yourself to get a more postive vibe...to become more "in tune". Know without doubt that there is always somebody by yourside (be a spirit, jesus, relatives...even living people....etc) Just "know".
Then every night before you go to sleep, imagine a room overlooking a pink sunset over an ocean. A slight cool breeze blows at the white silk screen curtians. And just chill out in this room for a while, designing it any way you want. Create a your peace...you can even place a picture of jesus, a cross or what ever you feel strongly about. Think of this room as a meeting room. This is the place where you will see your messengers. Not right away but after a while of doing this every night somebody will show up and give you a message for you.
Good luck.

Movies have characterized what a vision is. When you get a picture IN your head, that is quite simply a vision. A vision is NOT suddenly stepping into a 360 degree imax hologram. Just pay closer attention to the images that spontaineously pop into your head, and you'll get it. In time you will even get better at interpreting them.Sure drugs might make them more fun and vivid at first, but visions are a natural gift, and if you take a drug you can't relly clain the vision to be from your own true eye, ya hear? Read some Carlos Casteneda books.

Are you suggesting that those who have religious experiences and vision have drugs? Mind you , possibly, with drugs you have visions of various kinds, colourful visions at that. But never, never religious experiences at all.
If you are seriously asking this question and if you are connecting religion with God, then certainly you can have such an experience. But, like feeling the breeze without actually seeing the wind, like whiffing the fragrance without seeing the same, you can certainly feel the presence of a powerful force, some call it God, all around you. If you are a believer in miracles to beleieve in God then miracles are happening all around us. \\You have to look for it. The most recent big miracle is the safe landing of a small aircraft in Amazon jungle after it had collided with a big aircraft, which went down with 155 people on board. you call it an accident. the people in the small plane call it a miracle!

You probaly have to feel something very intensely. I had two very distinct and vivid visions when I was with my first girlfriend. They seemed off in a different dimension* and I don't know how my mind could have conceived them without divine help. (I'd never tried any hallucinogen at that point, and still haven't tried any illegal hallucinogens!)
*I know we people can only see 3 dimensions and it's all I saw, but it's like the three I saw were of a space separated from this one along a 4th spatial dimension.

You don't really get to decide that. The only thing you can do is draw near to God, because according to James 4:8: Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
Having a relationship with God is the real goal. You really don't need a vision or a "religious experience", you need to trust God.

Do not eat, drink, or sleep for about 2-3 days. Subject your body to extreme conditions (wander the desert with minimal supplies for a few days). Perform acts that place an abnormal amount of stress on the body and stimulate massive and rapid chemical and hormonal changes (hanging from piercings...major heavy tattoo work...)

You can't but you can make others think that you can. That is what it's all about. However back when I was a xtian I used to think that when I prayed that a god heard me and it made me feel better. This is a placebo effect. I can feel the same thing by meditation, writing myself a letter or journal, talking about things with a good friend.
