yep, my little Shih-tzu uses a litter box but she has newspaper in hers because she didn't like the feel of the litter. She also goes outside when I take her for walks but if I don't get home in time to let her out or if she has to pee during the night she goes in her litter box. My labX is pretty smart too, she watches the Shih-tzu use the litter box and sees that she doesn't get in trouble for going in there, so when my labX was sick and had diarrhea she went in the litter box and did her mess in there. She usually never uses it, but it's nice to know that she will in the case of an emergency.

Yes, I did my toy poodle. I bought special litter with a scent to attract dogs to pee there, and it worked like magic for the puppy. Poop was more difficult, as he would hang his butt out and the poop would land on the floor. So I got a high-sided litter box. He was litter-box trained until I got a cat. Even though they had separate litter boxes, the cat seemed to want the litter box more than the dog did, and he eventually quit using it. Now I can't even find the litter with the dog-pee scent to motivate him. (He had gotten so he used regular cat litter.)

i haven't trained my own dogs to use a litter box, but i have trained other people's dogs to do so. i think it is a good idea for older people with really small dogs and/or people who live in highrises. last month i trained 2 yorkie puppies for an older lady. we live in an area where it snows in the winter, trust me, these dogs aren't going to go outside to potty when the snow is over their heads.

check out this cool new dog "litter" box with grass in it:

there's plenty of info out there on how to do it, just google it.

Yes, the breeder where we bought our dog offered it for the puppies. It is nice because then the dog can always go and doesnt have to wait for you to get home. I also heard of someone training their dog to go in the shower...

I on no account tried that. besides the undeniable fact that, we had small canines and how we experienced them became to have them sleep in a small, constrained area (laundry room worked properly for me). The domestic dog did no longer could make a great type the region he'd be snoozing, so he'd ask to bypass out. we'd do treats and concerns. It became easiest a project of time in the previous than he asked to bypass out every time he mandatory to bypass potty. we've accomplished this with 2 canines, one became as quickly as a grown canine who had below no situations been counseled. We had tried some different procedures to no avail. This worked like a appeal. as quickly as we won our new domestic dog, began out in this attitude from the organising. He was once a clever little element and accrued on it very at as quickly as. in basic terms ideal sturdy fortune!
