Been looking for my heritage but cant go back past my grandfather. All i know is that his parent were indians

You want to hook yourself up with a source for 'geneology'. Looking it up on the web, starting with the tribe that your grandfather was a part of, will get you going. The LDS church also is a tremendous source of information, and it is all for free. Start looking on the web. Maybe the tribe that grandpa was in has a web site also....worth a try.

Ancestry.com is a good place to start. They also have a list of Indian censuses. It's not free. I got it for a couple of months and it was worth it. But they do offer a 14 day free trial. Also you can check geneaology.com and genforum. I found some info there that I couldn't anywhere else on their message forum. My GGgrandmother was a Cherokee Indian too. I had a lot of trouble finding info on that side of the family because of that but I finally had a breakthrough when i found another relative on the genforum that had researched the family.
