Leviticus says it's a sin.
Now I know that many christians think that the OT has been overturned and doesn't apply anymore, so that's not what I'm asking.

I want to know why your god EVER felt that this was a sin.
What was the rationale?
Or was he just trying to make life difficult for the sake of making it difficult???

Oh, and if he thought that this was so bad at one point, why did he change his mind?
How can a being who is perfect, omniscient, and "beyond time" even change his mind to begin with?

Germs?!?!?

So wool only causes germs when it's paired with cotton? But wool is OK by itself?

WTF?

To start, God's Law, Torah, has never been put aside. What was put aside was the laws and reforms of the Pharisees.

As to the blending of wool and cotton, wool is animal hair from sheep. Cotton is plant fiber. Each has its own characteristics. As to why God said don't mix, there isn't a clear answer, but by observation, a 100% wool garment retains heat and better for colder seasons while a 100% cotten garment releases heat and is better for warmer seasons.

I would think by mixing two types of fibers with opposing characteristcs would be a waste of time.

Um, God never changed His mind about the mixing of fabrics. He did change His mind at other times (ie destroying Israel because of the Golden Calf yet Moshe changed His mind) But that was more a test for Moses and he love for his people.

actually a slight correction the Hebrew word "shatnes" which has been translated in English as mixed only applies to a mixture of wool and linen in the same garment.

as to why I could give you several philosophical reasons about mixing to different things but that would not answer the question. The answer is that the author of the book of Leviticus (whether that be God or man) wanted that to be so. Though one can learn something out from the fact other mixtures are fob bidden such as yoking an ox and a horse or different plants in the same garden.

Gideon used a fleece of wool to seek an omen from God (Judges 6:37). Mesha, king of Moab, sent a large quantity of wool as a tribute to the king of Israel (2 Kings 3:4). Wool was forbidden to be woven with linen (Deuteronomy 2:11; compare Leviticus 19:19). Priests could not wear woolen garments (Ezekiel 44:17). Wool dyed scarlet with the qermes was used in the blood-covenant ceremony (Hebrews 9:19; compare Le 14; Numbers 19:6).

The whiteness of wool was used for comparison

(1) with snow (Psalms 147:16);

(2) with sins forgiven (Isaiah 1:18);

(3) with hair (Daniel 7:9; Revelation 1:14).

I'm pretty sure that it was a symbolic reminder to the Jews to not mix with the pagans around them. God never changes but times and people do, so He changed the rules to fit the circumstances. It's like a parent not giving a 12 year old an 8:00 bedtime. The parent hasn't changed by setting new rules. The parent simply recognizes that what was once healthy and necessary would now be too limiting.

Its just bad fashion or at least wasn't in style at the time. God didn't want his followers out poorly dressed, looking the fool. Don't believe me? Look at them coming out of church today. Its nothing but a fashion show. Some OT still applies, just on a different level

Things that don't work well together. In that time they had just barely figured out how to weave cloth. Mixing fibers and pre-shrunk fibers are still more recent. The whole law was set aside anyway...

Ephesians 2:15 Through his body on the cross, Christ put an end to the law with all its commands and rules. He wanted to create one new group of people out of the two. He wanted to make peace between them.

Colossians 2:14 He wiped out the written Law with its rules. The Law was against us. It opposed us. He took it away and nailed it to the cross.

Galatians 2:16 We know that no one is made right with God by obeying the law. It is by believing in Jesus Christ. So we too have put our faith in Christ Jesus. That is so we can be made right with God by believing in Christ, not by obeying the law. No one can be made right with God by obeying the law.

Galatians 2:21 I do not get rid of the grace of God. What if a person could become right with God by obeying the law? Then Christ died for nothing!

Galatians 5:4 Some of you are trying to be made right with God by obeying the law. You have been separated from Christ. You have fallen away from God’s grace.

Matthew 5:17-18 Says Jesus didn't come to abolish the law but to fulfill it. It ALSO LOOKS FORWARD to the time when IT WOULD BE DESTROYED.

Matthew 5:17 “Do not think I have come to get rid of what is written in the Law or in the Prophets. I have not come to do that. Instead, I have come to give full meaning to what is written. 18 What I’m about to tell you is true. Heaven and earth will disappear before the smallest letter disappears from the Law. Not even the smallest stroke of a pen will disappear from the Law UNTIL EVERYTHING IS COMPLETED.

-- If the law were not to be set aside, the "until everything is completed" clause is meaningless.

What is it? Who say OT doesn't apply anymore? Is it necessary? OT is the history and root about a prime group of ppl so that to unstand the salvation of Christ which is Christianity. Christ do not save from sin. He save ppl from misunderstands of God. He show the way and the truth of what is God and how God want ppl to know about Him. When ppl unstand the truth, they are saved. Without the OT you can't understand why Christ is so important to come to earthly life. It is not right to say like singing "Christ die for our sin". It is very misleading of the Christianity.Ppl always miss links beteen how come just Christ die and we are saved fr sin. Sound so easy and ridiculous. some Christians also do not understand it.
