What a mean thing to do. It is obvious that there are reasons behind this that have not been mentioned but a father has a right to be with his daughter at such a time as this. The daughter and the father have a duty to try to resolve things before it is too late. The more lead time, the better the chances. I feel for the father as this must have been a horrible shock--somehow it seems it was by design. Shame on anyone who participated either actively or inactively. Karma, my dear is a *itch.

Has our aunt and grandfather had a falling out, if so there may be a ligitamate reason for why she has not. I would say no matter what a father has the right to know that his daughter is about to leave this world. Have you ask your aunt what she wants, if she would like to see her father for the last time to say goodbye, as by alright she should the last say in what she wants, not your step mum.

I think you were absolutely right for telling the father. He should have known as soon as the mother found out. The mother was absolutely wrong for doing what she did. I give you Props for being able to tell the father!

Sorry luv, I disagree with you.... Even though your aunt didn't want her father to know, your Mom was right to tell him. He has a right to be by his daughter bedside to say his good byes. Also if they have un resolved issues, it is now time to address them and make peace. Be brave and support your family through these difficult times.
