It's a good question, because when you look at the most fundamental commandment behind the 3 main religions that fight each other, it is "love thy neighbor as thyself."
Religions "alway preach that if you are not Christian, Muslim etc., you won't go to heaven" because religions are systems of beliefs and morals. Beliefs and morals exist within the intellect, while "loving another as yourself" cannot be achieved in the intellect.
The problem lies in that none of these 3 main religions have a method of achieving "love thy neighbor as thyself." They each say that we should do it, but they don't say HOW we can do it.
If we had a program which could guide us to loving others as ourselves, and not fall into all the traps of our self-aimed desires (where I think myself better and more important than everyone else), then what you say it's exactly true: We wouldn't need religion.

I apologize in advance for any grammar or spelling errors.
I am a Christian, but I will try not to give you a cheesy Christian answer. I guess the first thing is that Islam and Christianity and all others are separate and must be considered separately. I will speak for Christianity b/c I know that really well. The basic belief of Christianity is that humanity suffes from sin which basically means the tendency and desire to do evil. Where ever there is evil, people are abused and hurt. It is not God's desire that humanity commit evil. The punishment for this evil is besides what people experience on earth is external punishment. This is what is known commonly as hell. It sounds harsh, but for God to be just and equitable then there must be punishment.
Since all people sin out of their own choosing, all are condemned to the punishment. Heaven is not something all people deserve. The punishment of hell is what is deserved and heaven is reward for choosing to follow God. The love of God is in that he does not send all people to hell, but offers them forgiveness through Jesus Christ. It is to each individual to decided to accept this forgiveness. If one accepts this forgiveness and commits to follow God then they begin a pursuit of better than what they were before. They seek not to sin and to help others that are the victims of the evil of sin. It is true that not all Christians do this and I do apologize for them. I would also say that what you on TV about Christians is not a accurate depiction, but it is those people who grab everybodies attention. More people are interested in the person who says we should assignate a foriegn president than the person who feeds the homeless.
I hope this helps and I am sorry if there are any grammar or spelling mistakes.

They preach that if you do not join them then you will go to hell because they want to create a feeling of fear in you so that you may join them.
Whatever religion you approach, or whatever religious people who approaches you will show you with lots of supposed proofs that they are the righteous, the chosen, the only truthful religion.
All religions have their good part though. If you know how to synchronise your life with religion then it can bring you a lot of benefit as many people need discipline, even fear, principles, and traditions to feel closer to god.
But if you can live without these things, then life will be simple and you wont have a stupid happiness :)

Religions don't send anyone to hell, it's NOT even God that sends anyone to Hell, it's that person and their choices in life. As a Catholic-Christian I'm taught that God will judge with what's in your heart.
If you're not aware of Jesus or His message you will not be discounted for that. But if you were taught between right and wrong and you still knowingly did the wrong of course you'll have to account for that.
Religion is a way to help us to become better people. Through its practices it leads us to conduct better lives in accord to what we believe is right. So God loves everyone, but of course that doesn't mean that He doesn't want you to drop those bad habits and sins. He will always love you, but He wants better for you as well. God bless.

well there is only one god and many types of churches whom believe in this one and only true god. they are all just about on the same page with afew differenties. i my self believe that aslong as u love jesus obay the laws of the bible and trust in god with your whole heart then u are a christain. what u call your church dose not matter. as long as they serve god.to answer about hell well its like this he tells us in the bible the only way to get to him is trough the son. and that if u dont do right and sin and dont ask to be forgiven then u can and will spend eternity in hell. this is not the words of christains but of god. think about it like this when u done something wrong as a child did your parents just say thats ok or did they punish u. mine punished me and god pushies us also. heaven is a reward to the faithful not 4 the sinner. god will always love us even if we end up in hell but he just cant let us get away with things. or else this world would be a lot worse than it is now, u acn also look at it like this we are in a race or some kind of compation. and I cheat lie and push my wat through it should i be alawed to get the grand pize or should u who follwed all the rules and played the game like they said u should. of coruse it should be u to win not I. well I hope this helped and I hope that u will seek help from a pastor to taech u the bible so u can fully understand

God created humans. Humans created religion. Every religious group believes in either a different God or see the real God differently. Every religion thinks they are the right religion. That's just human nature. I have no idea who will go to Heaven or hell. I assume Hitler is in hell with Jeffrey Dahmer and Mother Theresa and Ghandi are in Heaven. I base this on the things I only know about them. But I could be wrong. Religion doesn't make you go to Heaven or hell, God makes that decision based on our actions, words, thoughts and faith. Period. I hope my grandmother will go to Heaven. I think she is a living saint. I could be wrong because our family tends to keep secrets and maybe there's something I don't know. As a child I thought my grandfather was in Heaven because of all the good things people have said about him. Surprisingly, a few months ago my grandmother told me that she prays for his soul just in case he is in purgatory. I asked her why she thought he might be there. She replied by saying that she doesn't know what he was like before she met him. So I see it all as a guessing for us here. We will find out when we die.
Of course God loves us, He made us. He is our Father. I made my son and I love him. But if he abandons me, I will be hurt. Just like God is hurt when we abandon Him. I can't control my son, God doesn't interfer with us unless He has a reason to do so. Who am I to ask Him why He does or doesn't do things? Who am I to ask Him why He lets people suffer? He makes all the eternal decisions for us. We, hopefully, will make all the right human decisions to get to meet Him someday. But religions are human made, not God made. Adam and Eve personally knew God. Not long after Cain killed Abel, people started to create their own pagan gods. That's when religions started. Religions tell it's followers what to do and what not to do. It's God that tell us if we live in eternal peace or eternal fire.

As long as you can believe he's loving, caring and kind and keep him first to the best of your ability he knows your heart.
Now through all this preaching abouthow to believe, where to go to be accepted, etc GOD still is the one getting ALL the victory because he will let no weapons form against you and prosper if you know him personally for your self.

Why would you not want to share in God's love?
God does love you, but the full scope of his power is unavailable to your life if you do not seek his will. And if you have better things to do than to seek God, then you will be separated from him by your own choice--and he will let you remain separated from him forever, out of respect for your choice.
As far as "needing religion" goes...you actually do need to know the Word of God in order to know him better, grow in faith, seek specific guidance during your trials, and submit to his discipline. God gave us his Word so that we may have a guide. His Word is a great gift. If you decide it's unnecessary, there is much about God that you will remain ignorant of.
A religion that says you are going to hell if you are not part of their religion is not a good thing. But Christ said that you needed his grace and mercy in order to approach the Father. You can choose to disbelieve him if you like. We all have that option. But when the Son of God says something, you can count on it as Truth. ... In other words, "religion" isn't telling you what you need to approach God. God is telling you.

It's not enough, I'm sorry. You can't sit on your butt and say "I believe in God, God loves me and you" and expect to go to Heaven.
I'm afraid that's not how it works...
God expects you to honestly and truly believe in Him, and to prove that, you have to remember Him all the time (prayer), help the needy who are not as fortunate as you (charity), travel the earth to get to know others and share you thoughts (pilgrimage), and above all, proclaim secretly and publicly that there is no God but God (the declaration).
These are the main articles of faith you must practice loyally to even have a chance to be accepted by God and go to Heaven...

In my opinion religion has no logic or common sense to it. The God of any religion is a God that is way too small.
