One theory is of a constantly expanding and contracting universe, and thus that matter always existed. It's just that at some point matter collapses into a singularity and then another Big Bang occurs. ... and this happens over and over.
Regardless, the empirical data do support the theory.
Perhaps you've heard that two US scientists just won the Nobel Prize in physics for their work in this area.
Tell me, how many Nobel Prizes have been won for finding support of creationism?

The universe as we know it IS the big bang. That does not in the least imply that energy/matter was created, or that there was a time when the universe did not exist.
Time is part of the universe. So it doesn't make sense to talk about what was before the universe, or even to infer such an idea, because to do so suggests time exists independently of the universe. It doesn't. Relativity proved that. To ask the question "where did the matter come from" implies there was a time when the universe did not exist. This is a contradiction.
Philosophically, the only consistent position is that there was never a time when the universe did not exist. In that sense, it is eternal. Further, this position is backed up by 'running the universe in reverse' mathematically. If you could go backward in time toward the big bang, you would never actually reach the singularity. From your perspective you would be travelling backward in time for infinity (never mind you couldn't possibly survive, you get the idea).
When we discuss the finite nature of the universe, we are discussing it from our PRESENT perspective, which is really an invalid linear extrapolation.

Science only comes to the rational conclusion that before the big bang there was some kind of singularity. Because that singularity no longer exists to study or test, science cannot say much else about it (and does not bother to study it). All it can observe is that at some point everything in the universe was all together and then, for reasons still unknown, it exploded and has been expanding ever sense (another good question...expanding into what?).
Anyways, that's where faith/religion/spirituality/etc step in to fill in the gaps that science cannot and does not strive to answer. Science only deals with observable and testable phenomena. Evolution explains how things change...how they grow, adapt, and form. The question of did it happen randomly by chance or by God is not something science can answer because, again, the "how the process got started" can't be answered, it's not observable or testable. God isn't observable or testable, what was before the big bang isn't there now (because we exist) so it isn't observable or testable. Thus where science cannot answer religion/faith/spirituality steps in to help us get some greater understanding on what we can't immediately observe with our normal senses or test with instruments, procedures, etc.
Science does not conflict with my religious devotion or beliefs. Science explains the physical universe, religion/spirituality explains the spiritual universe and religion/spirituality provide us with tools to reach spiritual goals whereas science helps us to understand and develop tools to help us reach goals that effect only the physical universe. For me the two are necessary and I see no conflict between the two. I don't expect science to explain God no more than I expect religion to explain stoichiometry.

The leading theory in science right now is that it came from nothing.

Now I pose a thought experiment for you. You claim that something can not come from nothing, and that a cell is complex, so it requires a designer.
There is an inherent problem in this thinking. First, if something can not come from nothing how does it get here? God? If God exists he is something, thus violating your own principle. Second God would be MORE comple than a cell, he would require a designer.
The design - designer paradox:
If design requires a designer and a designer has design which must exist first?
If you say the designer then you have something existing with design before design has been created.
If you say design then you have something existing created by a designer before a designer exists.
The only logical conclusion is that neither design or a designer is required for things to exist.

Tsk tsk, Impavidus, let's keep this discussion above the level of our Christian, Moslem and Jewish unfortunate human brothers and sisters.
Matter didn't "come from" anywhere. It was ALWAYS here in the universe in some form or another. Before the Big Bang, matter floated around as sub-atomic particles, a force with no mass. And before that... who knows? And before THAT, nobody knows, and nobody ever will.

No, it did not EVOLVE randomly by chance. Our Lord Father of all men created the matter.

AND THE SPACE WHERE COME FROM ... AND TIME ...
THERE ARE THREE OR FOUR STAGES OF COMPLEXITY ...
THE COMPLEXITY OF HUMAN BODY WITH ALL THESE ORGANS ....
EACH ORGAN IS COMPLEX ...
EACH ORGAN CONSISTS OF CELLS .. AND THE CELLS ARE COMPLEX ...
EACH CELL CONSISTS OF MICRO ORGANS .. THESE ORGANS ARE COMPLEX ....
AND ......
AND ATOM STAGE IS ALSO COMPLEX ....
AND ATOMS CONSISTS OF ELECTRONS , PROTONS , NEUTRONS ... AND THESE ARTICLES ARE ALSO COMPLEX ....
AND THE UNIVERSE IS COMPLEX TOO ....
BUT SOME HUMANS CAN SAY THAT THESE ALL CAN COME TO EXIST AND HAPPEN BY CHANCE ....

it started as a speck of dust then dust met more dust so so so then little balls of bust met so on so so on the bigger it got the more compact it got till it was really really big then it got to be too big and crushed itself throwing out everything it had collected forever thrusting it outward into space

So-called Big Bang is a dinosaur. Quantum Physics is way better for solving mysteries.

Everything was created by Him and for Him and He holds everything together. I am talking about Jesus Christ. One day He is coming back and upon that day some will cry out for the rocks to fall upon them and hide them. Every knee will bow before Him. .......Come Lord Jesus!!
