He is a good kid. Some people are given the gift of empathy and/or discernment. It doesn't mean that he has, but it's not impossible. Don't worry about him. Don't spend a lot of time thinking about the pain you have had either. Children are especially attuned to a parents feelings. I don't know if you are of any faith, but you might consider talking to someone outside the family about it. A professional you trust, whether it be clergy or therapist... for your own peace of mind. All will be well and I will pray for your son. He's fifteen and old enough to let you know what he thinks of this also. Talk to a professional and then follow up on what they tell you with your son. God bless you.

two things I found are interesting.....regarding the Indigo Children referenced by another Answerer.....

THE INDIGO CHILDREN - The New Kids Have Arrived
ISBN 1561706086 - (Shopping cart # KB00-IND1)
1999 - Hay House
Authors - Lee Carroll/Jan Tober
$13.95 USA

Published in mid 1999, this eighth book from Lee Carroll and Jan Tober is about a subject which received more mail than any other after the release of Kryon Book VI, Partnering With God. Chapter 7 of that Kryon book spoke of the spiritual evolution of the new children of the "indigo" color.

The Indigo Child is a boy or girl who displays a new and unusual set of psychological attributes, revealing a pattern of behavior generally undocumented before. This pattern has singularly unique factors that call for parents and teachers to change their treatment and upbringing of these kids to assist them in achieving balance and harmony in their lives, and to help them avoid frustration.

In this groudbreaking book, Lee and Jan answer many of the often-puzzling questions surrounding Indigo Children.

1. Can we really be seeing human evolution in kids today?
2. Are these kids smarter than we were at their age?
3. How come a lot of our children today seem to be "system busters"?
4. Why are so many of our brightest kids being diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)?
5. Are there proven working alternatives to Ritalin
Throughout this work, they bring together some very fine minds (doctors, educators, psychologists, and more) who shed light on the Indigo Child phenomenon. These children are truly special, representing a great percentage of all the kids being born today on a worldwide basis. They come in "knowing" who they are - so they must be recognized, celebrated for their exceptional qualities, and guided with love and care.

This book is a MUST for the parents of unusually bright and active children!

And here:

What is an indigo Child?
As a summary, here are the ten attributes that best describe this new kind of child, the Indigo Child
They come into the world with a feeling of royalty (and often act like it)

They have a feeling of "deserving to be here," and are surprised when others don't share that.
Self-worth is not a big issue. They often tell the parents "who they are."
They have difficulty with absolute authority (authority without explanation or choice).

They simply will not do certain things; for example, waiting in line is difficult for them.

They get frustrated with systems that are ritually oriented and don't require creative thought.

They often see better ways of doing things, both at home and in school, which makes them seem like "system busters" (nonconforming to any system).

They seem antisocial unless they are with their own kind. If there are no others of like consciousness around them, they often turn inward, feeling like no other human understands them. School is often extremely difficult for them socially.

They will not respond to "guilt" discipline ("Wait till your father gets home and finds out what you did").

They are not shy in letting you know what they need.

and... just in case you heard otherwise from other "indigo" sources, the designated word "Indigo" has nothing to do with the color of an aura! It is the result of scientific observations by a woman who has the brain disorder called synesthesia.

I too have this "thing" I thought I was alone until I saw this question,I believe we all have this "Gift" and some just cant avoid it as the feelings are so strong, I think your Son and I are special and gifted and this is how you should look at him, he is only odd because he feels in a World where most people don't give a damn. May Allah bless him, and keep him safe.

He may have some sort of Psychic power of a sense or something and he may not know what's going on. I mean i've saw ppl be in pain to and you can tell by their facial expressions or in their eyes but i would go to couceling or to the dr. and ask them about that. Especially if he feels that way when others are in pain. Hope you find out something!!

It's very evident. Try watching a person describing some anguishing experience in their life. Then go back and pause and look in their eyes. The evidence of pain is clear.

That is truly profound. I went through a similar phase in my life. It was enormously painful, but incredibly real. People *are* suffering.

In Buddhism it is one of our most important teachings. I would take him to a Buddhist monk. They will be one of the few people who may help him understand what is happening and not just tell him to deny it.

You can see pain in somebody's eyes. If you just look at them it usually is very easy to see it. To make him sick is a little odd, but some people might not take it well.

Eyes are the window to the soul, you can see just about anything. That is unless they've perfected the Poker Face.

I believe that one can see pain in people eyes just like you can see joy in ones eyes.

Have you heard of Indigo children. If such a thing exists, it could apply to your son. He sounds empathic.
