I guess if you could try to figure out WHY you toss and turn, that might be a clue to solving your problem. Most people, myself included, can't get good sleep because of eating before bed, too much sugar late at night....or caffiene, or the inability to 'turn their thoughts off'. We often lay there thinking over the events of the day or worrying about the events of tommorrow.
I've recently tried a variety of sleep lotions and pillow sprays. The more expensive they are, the more of the natural ingredients they seem to have in them. Your fortunate that you have a schedule for your sleep. You might try some meditation prior to bedtime just to clear your head and relax. Remember, the more you can empty out your mind and keep it empty (I know it sounds funny), the less distractions you will have when trying to sleep.
Routine helps me quite a bit. If I perform certain tasks each time I prepare for bed, that convinces my mind that I'm preparing for sleep. As your head hits the pillow, empty your mind of any thoughts and breath slow deep breaths..........inhaling the lavender pillow mist that is on your pillow and top sheet. If you can't relax, let your mind drift to a state of tranquility and relaxation. As your mind relaxes, you need to allow the soothing relaxation to permiate throughout your entire body. Literally visualize each part of your body relaxing and becoming extremely limber.
Are you getting sleep yet?
Hope this helps.........feel free to shoot me an email and let me know.
Sweet Dreams!

This type of insomnia is often due to stress or depression. This may not be true in your case. Are you getting plenty of exercise during the day? Your body should only sleep for long enough to recharge its batteries so if you aren't getting enough exercise during the day this will affect your sleeping patterns. Some good hints for helping to get a good night's sleep are:
Establish a 'set in stone' bedtime routine, so every evening go through the same procedure at the same time, for example:
9pm: Have a warm bath (not too hot or cold as this will make you feel more awake!)
9.30pm: Make a hot drink such as cocoa or a malt drink
9:45pm: Spend 15 minutes sitting in bed reading a good book NO TV!!
Follow this routine for two weeks and you should start to see an improvement, especially if you increase the amount of exercise you do during the day. Another good tip is if you wake up in the middle of the night what ever you do don't turn the tv or pc on! Read a book, do some ironing, go for a midnight stroll, try going back to bed within an hour and you should drop off straight away.
Good luck!

Have you checked your diet to make sure you aren't accidentally getting a lot of caffine? I ask because I had started to take weight-loss vitamins, and suddenly wasn't sleeping. I'd end up with a headache and take excedrine. I'd be exhausted at work so I'd drink coke like there was no tomorrow.
Turns out the vitamins were loaded with caffine, so I had all of that plus all of the other caffine I was taking. Once I backed some of that away, everything was ok.
If you eat a lot of chocolate, that has caffine too.
Instead of laying in bed tossing and turning and worrying (which makes insomnia worse), try getting up and doing something quiet (reading, crafting, something) until you are sleepy again, and don't go back to bed until you are ready to fall asleep. Of course, if you share a bed with a partner or a child, that might be harder to do.

I have insomnia too. I've tried all kinds of home remedies without success. The only thing that helps me is the sleeping pill my doctor gave to me. That was about a year ago and I've not had any since then but I've been thinking about going and getting some more.
The only thing that half way helps me, (other than pills) is I close my eyes and try to visualize the number 3....then I count backwards from 50. You might want to start at a higher number. It doesn't help me all the time but it helps me sometimes. Good luck.....night-night!

I had horrible insomnia and could not fall asleep for 2-3 hrs and was, of course, exhausted for five year. I tried all the treatments: drugs, excercise, etc, and none of it solved the problem; no one has the answer but treatments. But I figured out the solution is to think like the best sleepers--kids. So I changed my thinking over some months and a lightened up a great deal and now I fall asleep in five minutes every night. Insomniacs are way too serious, for starters. e-mail if you want to know more rosupplee@yahoo.com

Exercising after you get home but before you eat will help.
As will spending 30 minutes right before bedtime doing some simply mind clearing exercises (meditating.)
I'm a long time insomniac (since I was 12) these things usually help me. I also like to turn off the TV, drink only water or a glass of milk before bed, and read a chapter in whatever book I'm reading.

Well in my case I was diagnosed a severe manic depressant which contributed to insomnia and addiction. I finally asked for help and was prescribed Zoloft and Trazadone. The longest I ever stayed up without drugs or alcohol was 12 days straight. If your anything like me take prescribed drugs but I am a pretty severe case.

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.

If you know of any, please let me know. I also have insomnia and toss and turn all night. Here it is almost 12:00 midnight and I am still up. I have to be at work at 5:45 am. I heard drinking warm milk helps, but I hate milk. Give this a try and good luck...
